Why is it hard for an incompetent manager to resign willingly?

I do not blame an incompetent manager for not wanting to resign although it's mostly for selfish reasons, but didn't the company see him before they promoted or employed him?

Almost everybody will not want to admit or accept they are wrong even though they are on wrong path. Most manager believe they are always right

Many things can be the cause - he might be proud, lazy or simply stubborn. Another thing is his upbringing, some people here in Third World countries don't ever believe in resigning even when it's clear they're incompetent.
Lastly, why not fire him yourself? You hired him, you can as well fire him

They do not resign willingly because they are connected to those at the top and so feel they are above the law. They also do not have any other alternative.

I think it's because it's not easy to secure a job easily these days. So they are times one has to stick to what he or she has in order to avoid joblessness.

Most times the lack of job opportunities for youths makes them to stick very tight to the ones they have and this can be an issue when they are not performing well

Mangers are being hired by the employer who believed in their abilities. Not necessarily hired on the correct basis, or with an accurate view of their skills.
Hiring a manager who wasn't a good choice for the company was or one who lacks skills needed to manage the company. Having failed as a manager on many occasions makes it very obvious that he lacks the skill set to drive the company forward. His refusal to stay put on the job and not willingly considering resignation is what baffles me.

Why is it hard for an incompetent manager to resign willingly?
Being a manager is a high position which virtually everyone would want to be, a manager who is incompetent would not accept that he isn't capable of being a manager but would rather give reasons or excuses why things are not going as it should, every manager believes he is doing the right thing and making effort for the smooth running of his Enterprise. Even though at times it's very obvious that the manager is incompetent he won't want to resign because he feels it's a downfall for him and also failure on his own part which no one wants to experience failure. A manager feels if he resigns he has accepted defeat and failed to do his work so the fear of accepting defeat, failure and demotion would make the manager not want to resign.

An incompetent manager should resign so as not to cause more havoc to the general doings of a business. If a business manager fails to leave or resign, then, it might be due to greed

How will it be possible to resign willingly and go back home, it is the duty of employer to address the issues or the management board

I think they actually feel they can do it better , since they have more pride in them and they feel they don't need anyone's help , I think it's the major reason too

A manager can be termed incompetent due to some reasons. The manager could be faulty, his team may be the cause of his incompetency, lack of managerial skills and so on. So to determine if he should resign seems to have much to do with if he (himself) isn't giving the right orders.
There are many reason why we can term a manager as incompetent, the first reason is his non challant attitudes towards work, neglecting his or her duty and incompetence.

No body wants to loose his or her job, that is the first reason,if he or she resign what is expected of him or her to State the resignation letter as reason for resigning, incompetence?,no it is a lossy of value if he state incompetence and damage of opportunities

Well for one, who wants to leave their job? It's going to be tough to get someone to resign if they feel they don't need to. Why hasn't the person been fired if he's not doing his work up to the standards? Why not bring it up to the higher ups, they will be able to take action if they find anything worthy of firing your manager for.

It will be hard especially if he knows his benefits in the company. But then it's in the place of the CEO to handle such, maybe by relieving such a manager.

People hardly would do things like that of their own volition. They had to be told to leave before they can vacate office. So it is with an incompetent manager too. They will need to be fired before they can leave

It could be pride, greed or selfish motives . Managers are hired to control a particular district so if he refuses to retire after being told to he can as well be forced out. Is or her incompetency has made him lazy and it's not good for business
Yeah I agree, it could be a lot of things on his or her part, when a manager is incompetent that means the results are not satisfactory then he should be replaced so it's down to the business owners

Self actualization and acceptance is what most managers are deficient of these attributes. Some fail to resign due to lack of limited skills and knowledge.

The only reason why most people would not want to resign from their job is because they know that it is quite difficult to find another job so they rather continue in that job no matter how difficult the job is.

Is usually down to the kind of manager in particular. A lot of people think that they will be able to perform better if they are giving more time and do not believe that they are incompetent.
