Why is it hard for an incompetent manager to resign willingly?

Mangers are being hired by the employer who believed in their abilities. Not necessarily hired on the correct basis, or with an accurate view of their skills.
Hiring a manager who wasn't a good choice for the company was or one who lacks skills needed to manage the company. Having failed as a manager on many occasions makes it very obvious that he lacks the skill set to drive the company forward. His refusal to stay put on the job and not willingly considering resignation is what baffles me.

Loll.... with the level of unemployment in the country how will you expect the manager to resign even though he know his ability as nothing to do with the business.

Of course a lot of incompetent people doesn't like to resign willingly because of what they are gaining. it is quite unfortunate that someone we know that you cannot handle a business or a company successfully and he doesn't want to pave way for those who can do it successfully. So it all boils down to personal gains and greed.

Same reason a corrupt leader won't resign, greed. An incompetent leader could try working on himself of he indeed wants to change for the better but when that doesn't seem to be the case and he still won't resign then it's greed for me

It all comes down to the personal ego which people have developed. A lot of the is bad managers do not believe that the work they are doing affects the work place.

A lot of people who are into business management that are bad do not agree that they are bad and they think that with time given they can change the fortunes.

It is always hard for anyone to resign from his business not to talk of the manager of a business except such manager have gotten another appointment in another company.

That is because he is human and human nature are naturally stoburn and selfish. The most honorable thing to do is to resign that post and let someone else Carry on with affairs of turning things around

Very good comparison, it is the same as in the case of political leaders who do not resign and it is not by vocation and the desire to improve things. On the one hand they do not accept defeat and on the other hand greed takes over them.

Well that depends on his reasons thou as for me I tink one of the reasons why an unfruitful manager might decide not to resign willingly might be because he believes he needs to strive harder and try harder with most chances he gets he might perfect his work or be fruitful also maybe because if he resigns the benefits and income he is recieving will all cease I think.

Seriously, some of these managers never think there is really anything wrong in their actions and so they won't ever resign.

Someone who is in a too position will never resign willingly especially if he/she knows they are doing a terrible job. That is just the way the world works.

First and foremost lets reason this thing logically. In our society today finding a good paying job is not an easy feat, then not to mention becoming s manager in one. Who would want to willingly let go of such positive even if they know they are not competent enough? Then not to mention the fact that so might not want to give up so easily out of pride.

The reason why that is so is because they do not see that they are the one that is bringing down the company, what they will do is that they will start blaming other people and they will see other people as the downfall of the organisation.

Probably because they do not have any other thing to do that would generate money for them. Those kind of people are filled with pride and would lead to the general failure of the organization.
Yes and some of them could be as a result of pride, they might not even see that they are bringing down the company, but how do we deal with such people in our life, what is the best way to treat them as a business owner ?

It is never possible because some of them are related to the organization owner and they won't ever think of sacking them.

He may be incompetent but still needs the income he gets from holding on to the job, however, it is even worse if he is too proud to admit his inadequacies and seek for self development.

It could be pride, greed or selfish motives . Managers are hired to control a particular district so if he refuses to retire after being told to he can as well be forced out. Is or her incompetency has made him lazy and it's not good for business
It is hard for any completed manager to resign easily because he or she wants to convince himself that he can do the job and also want to convince others that you can do it even though he does not have the skill.

It could be pride. An incompetent manager may find it difficult to resign willingly because he/she believes he is competent and sees nothing wrong with his management style. A proud person will never admit to their wrongs or mistakes.
That's actually the first reason, pride in the sense that I am the head and how canni resign when people below me can actually resign, and secondlybthe reason is because they knows they are not capable of securing job elsewhere because of their incompetence.

A lot of these incompetent managers do not know that they are incompetent and even If they do they tend to want to live in denial of the whole thing so that is why.

Well in a situation whereby you have a job as a manager in a company I don't think that you would want to willingly resign your job because there are no jobs end the country and so there is nobody that would have such kind of a job and they would willingly want to resign their employment.

Lol!! That's true of proud persons. Normally it is a very hard and difficult thing to find someone who's willing to acept their fault though. But that should not be the case for those in management positions
