Why is it hard for an incompetent manager to resign willingly?

Well, Incompetent is never a characteristics of a manager. every manager at some point in time, Is known or identified as a successful manager and also at a point in time is also known as a failed manager. not all of them will accept their failure over a short period of time.

Mangers are being hired by the employer who believed in their abilities. Not necessarily hired on the correct basis, or with an accurate view of their skills.
Hiring a manager who wasn't a good choice for the company was or one who lacks skills needed to manage the company. Having failed as a manager on many occasions makes it very obvious that he lacks the skill set to drive the company forward. His refusal to stay put on the job and not willingly considering resignation is what baffles me.

Why is it hard for an incompetent manager to resign willingly?
Why would they resign when all such incompetent people are all after is their pockets being full.
The CEO or company owner should be able to know if the manager is incompetent or not from the results he or she gets. The manager would not just resign except he is authorised to do so.

It can not easy for incompetent manager to resign willingly. This reason is that incompetent manager would like to be collecting salary as usual. Other benefits like allowance such as house, transport, feeding allowance would like to be collected.

It can be difficult for the manager to quit or resign if it happens that they don't have any other place to earn money. Such a person would do whatever it takes to stick to the job. Half bread is better than none as they say.

Sometimes the manager might not be bad as thought. They company either has a loophole or maybe the manager has been giving a too much gap to misbehave and this leads to the manager seeing himself or herself and the minigod which nobody can sack any longer.

In my country, it is very difficult to see a manager or a person in authority take responsibility for poor performances. They like shifting the blame to another person without accepting their faults.

Self actualization and acceptance is what most managers are deficient of these attributes. Some fail to resign due to lack of limited skills and knowledge.
Some of these managers do not want to resign willingly because of the benefits they derive from that business.
This is very wrong.
That is why most of them have to be sacked by the owner of the company.

The manager might not know that he is incompetent for the job. Probably he assumes every complaint made about his decision or work is made out of jealousy. Some will not resign because they do not have any other source of income.

I think a person realizes what he is capable of doing and what he is not capable to do so. The same goes for the person who works as manager at any business place. if a person knows that he is not able to do the job, then it is much better to leave the place.

It could be hard for an incompetent manager to resign could be because, he needs the salary to take care of his family, fear of having to start all over again, it could also be because of pride.

It could be pride, greed or selfish motives . Managers are hired to control a particular district so if he refuses to retire after being told to he can as well be forced out. Is or her incompetency has made him lazy and it's not good for business

I do not think that incompetent managers can hold the position in the company for a really long time. This is because the senior managers or owners usually spot them and replace them eventually.

An incompetent manager will fail to resign because of greed. In Africa we have so many leaders who will still remain in corridor of power just because of greediness, them and their supporters will not want to lose money and other benefits. In the developed nation reverse is the case.

Normally to be truthful, its not easy to just resign from a job when you don't have another job you are aiming at hand, and we can call that selfish motives but if he didn't or cannot control the district or department under him, he shoul just quit

Seriously. I seldom see managers who resign willingly. It is either they believe they can do better at the job or they just want to keep benefiting from the business.

The truth of the matter is that these guys don't really want to stop getting the money that they are being paid but they don't really want to invest all of the time in the work and that is why they find it very difficult to resign.

It could be pride. An incompetent manager may find it difficult to resign willingly because he/she believes he is competent and sees nothing wrong with his management style. A proud person will never admit to their wrongs or mistakes.
That's true. They feel themselves as a bosses because they are competent and we hardly find most of them in our business.

This really has to boil down to the type of human being that the manager is. A lot of people do not normally accept defeat very early on and believe that they can perform well if given more than.

They just don't want to accept the fact that they are incompetent as you've said, maybe as a result of having a lot of pride which might be the reason for them being incompetent.

@Skysaint even those with humility sometimes find it hard to accept such fact. The thought of giving up their position due to lack of necessary skills required is not the problem, but the ability to secure another job is what scares them.

Before the manager became incompetent , they were manager initially with good vibes, most times they give them room for change, most times its believe that they have shares with the company. Some managers are intentionally liabilities but their stake in the company is high.
It is actually a manager who was initially given his best for the company that he is working for ended up not being treated well by the same company that he might decide to be incompetent and his job and you can't really blame him for it.

Well if the manager is actually coming short of what he is supposed to do then he or she should be forced to resign because he or she has not been able to affect the business positively
