You're absolutely right, if eventually the employee isn't treating his or staff well it would be nearly impossible for such employee to let you know that he would be retiring soon or even give you a week notice. In such a situation he would just drop his resignation letter and alert you that he is retiring tomorrow which would be a shock to you.

At long run, him and his father conive together and sacked the accountant so that he can sit on that position. After the sack, the son mount the position of the accountant and started steering his father's company in his own way, before you know it, the company went on bankruptcy and totally fold up. According to my own point of view I believe every company house to retain their experience staff in order for the company to move forward and for the betterment of the company. In order for you to retain your experience stuff you need to always give them their salary complete and also other allowances

Well this is kinda hard finding a replacement for them cause of their high working experience and how they made an impact in your company, well to solve that kind of situation you just need to get them to train staffs that will take their place
