What is the difference between management and leadership?

It's more common to find managers though than finding leaders. Most leaders are actually the ones serving their people. If one can manage human resources, I think that person can be both a leader and manager.

A manager is someone that can coordinate resources or factors of production to ensure smooth production processes.
A leader is someone who is not only able to coordinate but also raise other managers to same productive levels; that if he's not around, production can still go on.

The different between management and leadership management is like to manage over something while leadership is something that you have authority over something so they almost the something.

management means looking for day to day operation, where s leadership means determining a course of actions. However, in many cases, the division between the manager and leader diminish
The leader is more like the owner and the management is the structure he or she makes use of in running his or her business to meet the business goals and objectives.

A manager is someone who controls a business organization, most manager have a good understanding of the business they are asked to manage, a leader in the other way around is not like a business manager because someone can really be a manager without being a specialisation in any type of business, it is just your ability to lead a crowd of people.

Management has to do with planing, organizing of things and a leader is one who serves as a role model to his or her followers,a leader guides and directs his people and he makes sure everyone is happy,a good leader must have management skills

From your point of view, does it mean a leader without a good management skill is not a good leader? Or how would you classify such a leader?

Leaders paint a picture of what they see as possible and inspire and engage their people in turning that vision into a reality. While Managers focus on setting, measuring and achieving goals. They control situations to reach or exceed their objectives.

Management ensures that the system of the company is a run effectively and efficiently. Leadership on the other hand create a better future for the company entirely in terms of productivity and profit.

The only difference I observe here is that management has to do with business and how you can arrange for smooth
running of a business organisation ,but leadership is the ability to organize a group of people to achieve a particular goal.

In many companies there are many employees and sometimes the team management makes several groups. These employee are members of the group and each group has its own leader. I think this is what you call a "team leader" in a company. Nevertheless, a manager always remains above a team leader.

I think one of the basic difference between management and leadership is the fact that the manager can only give directions and commands to his or her employee; however, a leader has the ability to assess the situation in a correct manner and lead his employees. A manager usually caters the needs of cutomers whereas the leader guides and instructs the employees in a proper way.
Nice write up. If I should ask, in a business who do we need, a manager? Or a leader? From the write up I would say a manager is most suitable for a business

Well, a manager in a business is expected to leave a particular business better than they found it but in leadership, a group of individuals already have a goal or limit they want to achieve and you're employed to guide these people to actualising such goals

From your write up can I now say before one can be successful at management one must be a good manager with a little touch of leadership.

I believe a leadership quality is not really necessary for people to be a manager, the two things are different and some people can be a leader without any academic degree but as a business manager academic qualification is needed.

Without mincing words, it takes a good leadership skills to be able to manage business. I don't see the difference between the two. A manager is also a leader.

The management and leadership of an organisation are so closely related. this because leadership of a company can be in position of managing a company. all aimed at the improvement or the growth of the company. there difference may lies in their administrative structure and directives.

Yes, you are right I think, Management consists of controlling a group or a set of entities to accomplish a goal. Leadership refers to an individual's ability to influence, motivate, and enable others to contribute toward organizational success.

A leader and a manager performs a relatively similar function. A manager only add some things to the organization by giving command to the younger and lower ranks but a leader does lead by a very simple.

Do you mean to say leaders do not give commands as well to the younger or lower ranks? Personally I feel leaders can also give commands as well.
