Should Staff Work More Than They Are Paid?

There is absolutely no reason why staff should be working extra hours of doing things that is not in their job description but instead they will only do what matters.

Under normal circumstances, it is not proper for staff to work more than they are paid. under the labour law, it is an offence for you to overuse the staffs because the terms of conditions of work I've been clearly stated at the time of employment.

No, as a staff, you should work according to the time arrange for that particular work except you want to work more harder and pass the time in order to get promoted in your working place.

The reality on ground is that most employees work longer than they are paid to do. Most times, they are pressured to do so for the fear of losing their jobs by their bosses.

Of course he can volunteer especially if he's looking to boost his profile in that company or somewhere else. Though it should always be to one's ability but there's no denying the fact that he'll learn more and gain valuable experience that'll be useful later.

As an employee it is always very important and necessary that you try as much as possible do not over work yourself. You need to equate the amount of money being paid you and exert the same energy.

It is unethical for an employee to work more than the numbers of hours that was stipulated in the employment letters. Some company would pay for the Extra time spent.

If a staff is working more than he or she is paid, it is related to a modern the slavery and should not be allowed at all because before you accept the job, the duties to perform must have been clearly stated.

It does not make any sense that somebody should work more than the way in which they are paid. Every job has a job description and that is exactly why it was created.

Yes a staff can decide to work more than what is being paid it might be stressful but all this effort will be rewarded if not in the same company recommendation can even come from other people that have seen what he or she has done. This type of effort /hardwork prepare someone for a greater opportunity
That is actually a good point to note, because what one is putting in for a particular organisation is actually a value that cannot be quantify, and the management can even attest if they want to be sincere.

Though staff in an organisation ahould not overwork most especially when the owner of the company is not taking care of them , but there are times when the workers do overwork and its normal but not everytime .

Personally I think it's a very bad idea for an employee to work more than he is paid to. though sometimes it depends on the situation and the regulatory policy of the state on labour.

That is definitely true, because in every job there is terms of refrence on job sschedules and operations and when the rules of engagament is out of what one has signed for, then it is not a good work condition for the employee.

There is absolutely no point in making staff to work more than their job description. This is because they should have time for yourself and not just spend the whole day working for the company.

The job description of every staff Is spelled out the moment he gets a job in any company. This is usually directly proportional to the pay he receives and his certifications. However, is it appropriate for any staff in any business or company to be working more than he gets paid. Can he volunteer to do more that what was designed for him to do?
Well, tt depends on the industry, but in general, I think no. An employee's salary is a reflection of their value. If they're working more than they are paid, then they're not being compensated appropriately for the work they are doing. Think about it this way: if you're working for someone who is paying you $10 an hour and you're doing twice as much work as your coworker, who is paid $20 an hour, what does that say about how much value each of you brings to the table?

Let's say you were being paid $10 an hour and your boss asked if you could do some extra work for free—like organizing a company-wide office cleaning day or something like that. That would be different! But if your boss is asking for extra work without offering to pay more money, then no! You should absolutely (politely) refuse—and then make sure that when your boss gives work to other people, they get paid more than they deserve too!

If you are just new today workplace or the nature of the work, it'll be good to spend extra hours in the workplace. the reason is that you will get familiar with the process of how the work is being done more quickly. Also there is another advantage of do more than what is your view in the workplace. You will gain the respect of the employer when you you go extra mile in your work.

It is not necessary to me because in every business organisation there are responsibilities for everyone. If your responsibilities is the accounting of the business then what is the needs of you spending extra time to learn about accounting ?

As a staff , we should not work more than we are being paid for , but the opposite is happening here in my country where you work as a slave and earn peanut thats not worth it at the end of the month .

No matter how you try you cannot equate the work done to the amount of money paid the employer will always find his way to underpay you so that he will make profit by 12 so you as an employee you are expected to do more than what you are paid for or else you may reserve I remember there are a lot of people roaming about that are ready to work even being paid meager than what the baby bed so the choice is yours
It is true that it is not possible for you to equate the job you're doing to the amount you are collecting as a pay.
If that should be taken into consideration, so many employees would have been left the job.

It's funny if you think staff should work more than they're paid. Maybe you should also be thinking that staff should be paid more than the work they are doing. There should be balance in everything in this world. Work and get paid for the work you've done
