Giving a staff/employee a second chance, good or bad idea?

If the staff in concern has been remorseful, is new, did not I actually intend to cause such damage, then it is not a bad idea that you should forgive them.

For me personally i might give a second chance to my employee, but this also depend on the type of offence they were doing, stealing is one of the worst character I can never give a second chance, dishonesty is another one I might not be able to give a second chance.

There are so many factors to consider. If your company policy allows you to give a second chance then go ahead. Then the crime or offence committed also needs to be put in consideration. There are cases that you dont need to allow the person stay in the organization. And then again the person might not really change
Giving a staff employee a second chance is a good idea this will enable him to learn from his mistakes and be able to make correction.

Only if the mistake is forgettable. We must also remember that any kind of dishonest behaviour should be dealt properly. Otherwise giving second chance will only encourage others to do the same.

I believe that it is ideal and humanitarian to give a staff another chance especially when the staff recognize his mistake and asks for forgiveness. It is not easy to get job these days

True, if the said employee refuse to change after being given a second chance, then it can be said that they wount change or their actions are deliberate. Such persons should be removed instantly so they wount corrupt others.

You are definitely right. Being remorseful tells that you've agreed to your mistakes and promise never to do it again. Some errors can be committed through mistakes while some happened as a result of negligence. We should learn to give second chance to employees when things like that happens.

Yeah , but the employee need to first acknowledge that he or she made a mistake and such be remorseful . This will make it possible for the employer to forgive him

This is indeed a matter of trust, as many managers or business owners have tried to rehabilitate a problematic staffer. Some have succeeded why others have let the employee go. If a stubborn employee is being given a second chance after much pleading, is there anything the employer will gain from such employee? On the other hand, can such employee be fully trusted again ? I have come to realize that many employees do Change positively after their first mistake, but the problem is, can they be trusted again?
It's a very delicate matter. It's delicate because given a staffer a second or even a third chance is not actually a must for a change in behavior. On the other hand, a remorseful staff can change after given another chance

I believe everyone deserves a second chance at live itself. Giving an employee a second chance is good of the offense committed is not too great. Some offense are outright expulsion and termination of appointment

I can agree with the second chance. However, it would depend on the gravity and kind of mistake or offense. For an employee who was stealing from the company I guess that is not pardonable especially if he has a vice like gambling or using illegal drugs.

If the employee has never shown up late once in ten years, then shows up late for work two days in a row, you may be jumping the gun letting him or her go. The employee isn't doing well in his or her current position but has other strengths you don't want to lose.
I also agree with you that it is very good for 1 to give anyone the benefit of doubt as there are only going to be a time where people will my trunk you in anyway so it is always good for you to give them a second chance for them to right their wrong.

Yes it is good to always give others a second, it shows your nature, how humane you are then again when giving a person a second chance, i would advice you watch the person closely so as not to be deceived. And to see if there is any change in behavior.

I want to believe that even the enterpreneur must have made mistakes before reaching such positions so why not give someone else a chance at retrial.

That is a tricky question. It all depends on what transpired. People who do you wrong once will do you wrong again, in my view. Most individuals who desire second chances are those who did not think about what they were doing in the past, end up regretting it in the present, and want another opportunity in the future so they can screw things up again. But none of us are perfect we are humans after all, so only if the individual is real and it is worthwhile to give him or her that chance. There's no harm in taking a chance.

Well most of us need second chances In our lives times without numbers we make mistakes but we learn to forgive and move on, so if it's not a serious issue then I will give him/her a second chance and encourage him/her on the things he/she needs to know.

Its good to reconsider your emoyees for a second chance. But they must earn that second chance before given to.them. I'll watch their reaction and attitude towards their wrong doing before offering them second chance.

I think basically it depends on their offense to you. If their offense is very tolerable then you can still give them another chance. But when their offense could not be tolerated then you fire that person immediately. I think your company has the policies that guide you on making the right decision on giving employees second chances to work.

Giving a second chance to an employee that depends on the level of damage or offence he or she might have committed. That when I can I grant a second chance

I think everyone weather employee or not, should be given a second chance. I believe everyone, no matter how bad, has the ability to change.
