I think it is so sad for a country to encourage education and when it is completed, their is nothing to show for it because of unemployment whether technical or not. The unemployment rates are high to the extent that it has brought about more crimes in the society.

Unemployment rate in Nigeria is fast increasing with the number of graduates being produced from different higher institutions of knowledge every year with inadequate job opportunities to absorb them. Unemployment rate in Nigeria and the world in general is getting worse, youths are graduating every day and they are entering into the Labour market searching for a means of survival but they are getting nothing , governments are not producing jobs and the rich keeps getting the better things everyday.

It is so bad here (in Nigeria by the way), that PhD holders would even apply for the job of a driver if the pay is reasonable enough. As much as we have high rate of unemployment, the rate of underemployment is almost as high if not higher.

Its not only in Nigeria its everywhere. The rate of unemployment in some country is worse than that of Nigeria while some are not up to that of Nigeria. That's why each youth must write his/her mind from looking for a job after the higher institution

Unemployment rate in the world generally is high. But it seems Nigerian own is worst than the rest. Have you checked the rate of the youths lying helplessly, no job, over 80% unemployed citizens in the country. And you're here, saying Nigeria is better than others, i don't see that.

Bro.... lets not bring fact from this statistics. Agreed rate of unemployment is bad in the country but some of this youth have one thing doing or the order to fetch them there daily money the statistics is only based on the employment that's not available to sustain the amount of youth in the country..

I know some are still hanging on something tangible doing to sustain their lives. But you can't say that's employment to them. The government brings employment, the self employed individual isn't counted as being employed when it comes to general acceptance of employment percentage.

First of I do not think that the introduction of machines should mean people become unemployed because the machines themselves are just to make the work a lot more faster and efficient in it. It has to do a lot with the exploding population and general poor leadership.

As harsh as it sounds it seems that the history keeps on repeating itself where there are always huge catastrophes that we blame on for laying off workers. Which by the way according to the law of supply and demand will help companies create orportunities for the growth of their business. So these brains sitting in streets should strive to create opportunities for themselves unlike being programmed tó be in school just to be employed. I don't know what mean by technical employment but I want you to o understand that there is no employment that should be done with some set of people been excluded.
In my country the word technical is a word use in covering up inefficiency, I hope this is not your post is about too.

It means employment involving you having the required knowledge about the employment opportunity and specialising in that aspect, although technical is not used to cover up that ,they are of different terms

You are absolutely right, when people have studied it is hard for them to accept a humble job, perhaps because they believe they are superior or think they have studied for something better, the opposite happens in people who have not studied, any job is good to support their homes.

For Nigeria to reduce the rate of unemployment in the country, there must be empowerment schemes that will train the populace on how to be productive and thereby creating jobs.
