You are on point by this submission. Obviously government has failed many people by not being able to give them job security. And like you said that every graduate should look for an alternative. I think that is the only solution to the issue of unemployment.

I don't think there is the right equilibrium with the machines and humans regarding employment. Even when the small computers became prevalent it did not cause unemployment here. I guess those business owners are shrewd with finances that they are saving from the cost of employing more workers. But I like the term technical unemployment to mean technology had caused the loss of jobs.

Even when these businesses don't have access to these technologies yet, they lay workers off maybe to hire cheaper staff or replace them with people that they like. Technical unemployment doesn't hit much in a developing country such as Nigeria as there is structural unemployment already dealing with the masses.

The problem of unemployment in developing and underdeveloped nation's can be easily traced to government lack of efficient planing for all graduates and labour industry. That is why many private sectors lay off workers whenever they feel pressured by government to do anything.

You are right with your view on this matter. To secure a job now in Nigeria, it's either you are politically connected or you have someone in the system that can help you secure a job, your chances of getting a good job are very slim.

Honestly with the way things are going, even during the covid 19, there were workers that were laid off their duties, it is even possible that most of those workers didn't even have a side business or something they were doing, no matter the job you are carrying out in your organisation, it is always good to have a side business so that when such cases occur, you can have something that you can fall back to.

We would only be deceiving ourselves if we say technical unemployment is a new issue. I have been hearing since secondary school that computers are taking over different jobs gradually. Some people would still feel lackadaisical about it and be expecting someone to get them a job.

You are right by saying that technical Unemployment is not a new issue in our country. We cannot say because computer is taking over human activities at work place, we would now assume some people are waiting for someone to help them get a job.
