Technical Unemployment

Technological unemployment is the loss of jobs caused by technological change. It is a key type of structural unemployment. ... A contemporary example of technological unemployment is the displacement of retail cashiers by self-service tills. That technological change can cause short-term job losses is widely accepted.

As a Nigerian, I will say you can not be more correct. The rate of unemployment is growing geometrically while the government has no tangible solution about it. It's quite pathetic that even those that are qualified for a position find it difficult to see any. The one s that have, are paid peanut.

Technological unemployment occurs when developments in technology and working practices cause some workers to lose their jobs. Technological unemployment is considered to be part of a wider concept known as structural unemployment.

The rate of unemployment has continue to increase due to the fact that institutions of higher learning are not in touch with what the industries are in need of.Most of their technique and method of teachings are not iin line with current industry realities.

Apart from failed government as the main factors or reasons for unemployment the use of machines based on modern day technologies to replace man in the field of labor is another reason for unemployment

Not only technical but also other type of unemployment increased in pakistan covid19 also effected the daily basis workers and other people million of peoples are jobless government also make shure and made different technical institute to increase the skills of youn population

I would like to say that technical unemployment has not really commenced in Nigeria. The increment in unemployment was a result of government not providing basic amenities such as light, good roads etc to attract investors, having seen that they have no plan to provide job and protect those that has job with laws. Even when talking about technical unemployment, the essence is to reduce staff not total outright of laying off staff.

Yeah definitely your point is very valid that new emerging technologies has replaced the man power. Every business man want to earn more profit in a little time. The machine can do much work than human without any break or rest. The graduates are increasing rapidly which cause unemployment.

That's the common problem of the developing countries. I will still blame the University setting. They should change the orientation of the students. They should let them know that they can be okay without securing job from the government. They should reason beyond the box.

Unemployment is one of the big problems in developing countries, the provision of jobs that cannot accommodate the number of college graduates. The government should provide labor-intensive employment and entrepreneurial training, so that prospective workers will also be able to provide jobs. replacement of human labor with machines or robots can be carried out gradually, so that mass unemployment does not occur.

Technical unemployment occurs as a result of replacing human power and effort with machines for carrying out some specific jobs based on modern technologies and development and again the failure or an economy will also result to unemployment

Unemployment rate in Nigeria is fast increasing with the number of graduates being produced from different higher institutions of knowledge every year with inadequate job opportunities to absorb them. Of recent, many workers were laid off from their places of work due to invention of new modern machines to replace employees thereby contributing to the number of unemployed youths in Nigeria.

What do you think about this?
Please can you give example of companies that laid off there workers due to the invention of machine. And was it she to the Maldives invented that caused the laying off of workers or covid 19.

Modern machines that minimize the need for personnel should not be a reason to lay off employees. On the contrary, they should be taught to operate the machinery and distribute the other workers according to the need of the company. Here in my country these are unjustified dismissals and the employer should pay triple money for such an action.

You are right. At least I have a friend who is using this investment or I call it business as a living. I'v worked for a lot of people who work on crypto on a daily basis and they are making a lot of cash and they av reduce the employment world.

Technical unemployment is an unplanned form of unemployment aimed at reducing human power and labor to save stress but comes with a disadvantage as it replaces human power and thereby making the people jobless

Living in a digital age, where everything is all about techs and programming it's expected that more robots and machines will take the place of man in works as they are more efficient with a higher output. It is a flobal trend. One here to stay, I am not sure it is as severe in Nigeria as in developed worlds

Looking at a more broader view, unemployment rate has increased in most developing countries of the world. Which is very evident in Nigeria to be precise as stated. Unemployment can be caused by so many factors which aren't even discussed.

Unfortunately nothing can be done about this , we are in a machine age and it is what to be expected that machines will replace more human labour. What we need to do is to keep empowering our selves to ensure we have skills to sustain ourselves and not rely on jobs

Excellent option @Adventurer , "keep empowering ourselves to make sure we have the skills to sustain ourselves and not depend on jobs" which is excellent and a very good alternative for all those people who have lost their jobs motivated to technology. We should look for ways to develop skills and offer independent services.

Thing is, technical unemployment is not a problem for one country but other countries as well as machines are taking over in different sectors of workspace now but what one can do is learning to control these computers.
