Should Staff Work More Than They Are Paid?

The job description of every staff Is spelled out the moment he gets a job in any company. This is usually directly proportional to the pay he receives and his certifications. However, is it appropriate for any staff in any business or company to be working more than he gets paid. Can he volunteer to do more that what was designed for him to do?
The keyword here is volunteering. If the person has so much passion and zeal to do more than they get paid for, why stop them?

Most employees now even work less than they get paid for, so having the opposite should be appreciated.

The answer is no, and that's what I call injustice, you are not supposed to work more than you are paid, no body deserve to be treated like that, if you're company is trying to give you more work, they should also consider increasing your monthly salary and incentives too.

Normally when a staff just joined a company, they will explain the type of job you will be doing and the Time spend to the staff, but its normal to overwork than you get paid at times but not every time, its for the betterment of the company.

To be fair, how can a staff measure his/her work relative to pay? Even if you're paid per hour, it means every second of that hour your should be working, we all know it's not possible.

From your point of view, you have taken sides with the staff against the enterprise. As a staff, just do your best and leave the rest, better opportunities are coming.

Who will pay for the extra work? Why would someone do that?is it because the joy of the work or what?even the owner of the business will not do that not to talk of an employee.the owner will take you for granted and even underrate you.so just maintain the normal working hours that's all.

While pay and benefits may not always be the biggest motivators for employees, they certainly help. ... When people perceive that they are getting paid more than their counterparts at other companies, it often compels them to expend extra effort. They will work harder to demonstrate that they deserve that money.

Yes, you can, it is all a matter of decision but in my opinion your work rate or your work output should be equivalent to your pay. The only reason I might want to overwork myself outside my pay is if I have serious passion for the work but even at that you shouldn't work for what you're not paid for.

I think this is a case of the individual trying to do more than necessary. A company with the right HR already knows what is expected of him that's why there's a job description. Now doing more than your job description is now a case of you over working for various reasons. You should also know that your conduct could be denying someone of the right to a job.

A can do attitude is one of the skills companies are looking for. It is a very good thing if a staff works more than what they are paid for. It shows in their key processing indicator. And that makes them to be what and who they are. No company would hire anyone who want to work below the standard. It is better to have an high performance than to under perform.

It don't there is anything wrong with the idea of a staff volunteering to do more than what was designed for him but he should not make it look as if other staff are not appreciative or hardworking.

If the staff paid full and work hard then the company will grow fast and fast . On the other Hand if the staff didn't work hard then the company will not grow fast. If employers sincere with work and pay her full attention to work it is better then

That is the way it works in this part of the world, which is not suppose to be so.
Alot of employers of labour over use their staff and cannot commensurate the work done with the payment of the salary.

Where an employer has made an accidental overpayment of wages/salary or expenses (including holiday pay) to an employee, the employer can legally recover this overpayment from an employee by deducting the overpaid amount from future wages or salary (or any money due to the employee if they leave.

Not in every company or business , but at some times in some companies they paid lower than staff works. In some greedy companies where opportunities of jobs for workers are very low around. So they compelled by companies to work but paid very low.

Converning your question I think the truth is most staff work more than they are paid, when you are talking on the remuneration if most staff, it's a bit lower comparing it with the work they perform, especially if that is their passion, you will discover that they put in more strength because that's what they love and they are being paid for it

Every employer should pay the staff according to the job descriptions and also according to the official payment standards of the Country - some developing nations lack these. Any employer who is going to work more should either get an increase in salary or should be paid for overtime work. Companies should be enlightened on these.

No, employees shouldn't work more than they are paid but in the real sense, they do. Most times, workers overwork because they have no choice, they already faced issues getting the job so they'd do anything just to stay employed.

Before a staff will work more than he is paid he knows that he enjoys the job and knows that his hard work will be paid for today or in the future. It shows dedication and commitment to the business and this should be rewarded so as to encourage others to do their best for the betterment of the company. But truthfully there's no way you can equate the money paid to the work done as payment my differ from company to company.

Making staffs work more than they are paid is a wicked and barbaric act which I will never support but in the developing world, this is most of the time a reoccurrence issue and its all selfishness on the path of the employer to maximize 100% profits.

Making staffs to work more than they are paid is something that is tantamount to slavery and human to human exploitation. It is unjustfied under any circumstances. No body should be made to go through such an ideal in the hands of another human bein
