Should Employee pay for damages?

Employees must be careful while handling tools in the work place. They were bought with money. Unless u brought them from your house it's okay not to pay

they should be if it has been written in the agreement that whatever the damage in the workplace are going to be replaced by them. But if it is by accident the company should provide it.

That is right. What is written in the agreement is best to be followed. Most companies will include that rule that any damages caused by employees intentionally should be paid for. But for accidents, the employee does not pay for it.

The cost of damages should be deducted from employees monthly salary. I see nothing bad in it. I mean everyone should be responsible for each of their actions either intentional or by mistakes .

Exactly - this is actually the very same way it's done in the company where I used to work. Once you damaged any of the company's products, you are definitely paying for it from your salary.

Well it depends on the kind of damages that is involved if it's so critical and it's because of the negligence of the employee then definitely it's supposed to be on him so that he can learned a lesson and correct his mistakes next time.

It depends on the type of damage in question and also the employee found wanting. If it is a mistake that is based solely on negligence after so much warning. Also if the employee in question has been warned over and over again.

Seriously, there is nothing like it depends on the kind of damage caused by the employee. It's boldly written in all appointment letters that you pay for any damages you cause in the company.

I am still of the opinion that employee should not be asked to pay for any mistakenly damaged equipment but instead it should be included in the company's expenses. But the big question now comes. How do one know the damaged was done on purpose or not? This is a very tough topic of discussion. It is my opinion.

If a staff should damage an equipment mistakenly you are not supposed to ask he/she to pay for it but if he or she should damage the equipment on purpose or after so much warning and endurance for he/she to handle the equipment with much care then the worker damage it then he can be forced to pay for it.

So, according to your assessment, the company should be suffering losses for the carelessness of the employee? The only thing that the company would do is to make the payment to be in installments.

If the damage is done as a result of carelessness, employee should be responsible for the payment of the damages. This is going to teach them listen to be more careful.

This should be in written document and handle to the employees in the first day of an appointment that is rules and regulations govering the conduct of the company, that is an agreement between the company and employees so if this kind of this is included in it that if you if you break an equipment you have to replace it, then you will since you have signed the agreement

If the employer in the process of working with an equipment, damages the equipment, the damage fee will be deducted from their salary.

There's no one that will want to deliberately damage something that's still useful to other people so punishing someone for a mistake isn't good..

If an employee accidentally breaks or damages equipment, you cannot require him to pay for replacement equipment. Accidents happen. The damage must be treated as a business expense. You can only require an employee to pay for damaged equipment, if the damage is done on purpose or because of gross negligence.

In certain cases, It might be difficult to prove that an employee damaged the product by accident or by negligence. In this case, it would be difficult to judge the employee. Nevertheless, many companies would still charge the employee whether or not he or she did it accidently or by negligence.

We all know that accident happens, if an employee accidentally breaks or damages equipment, will you require him to pay for replacement equipment? Some workers may purposely damage equipment, or out of gross negligence. Since you may not actually know if the damage is done on purpose or not, will you allow them pay for the damages be it on purpose or accidentally?
Managing work equipment is very important because without it no work can be done, employees should pay for any damage because they will be more careful in handling the equipment

Such cases are rare anyways.
if an employee accidentally damages an equipment, especially an expensive one, there should be deductions in salary or wages.
paying for damages by an employee is not a bad idea.

No matter the extent of the damage, whether mistakenly or intentionally, two chances should be given to every employee, the first time a damage occurs, the employee can be allowed to go Scot free but every second occurrence should be charged from their salaries. This should make them more careful and serious with handling of company properties.

Yes, if the employee is responsible for the damages he or she should pay for it since the stuffs were bought with money except it was by accident.

Yes.
If my employee damages any property accidentally or not, he or she would have to pay for the damage caused.
The money for the damages can be deducted for the employees salary or wage.

It depends because accidents are bound to happen and I'll treat it as an unforseen business expenses. Well, if the damage was a result of gross or disorganized behaviour, I'll just have to deduct from the employers salary, to inculcate discipline in the organisation.
