Is there any difference between marketing and selling?

Although marketing and sales are intertwined with each other, I personally see a big difference, which has already been explained previously in other members' posts. Marketing itself is in charge of advertising the product and making it reach more potential customers using all the necessary tools. Sales is the transaction that is executed between the buyer and the seller in an exchange of products for money.

In a layman word marketing is been describe as the advertisement you do on a particular products before selling can be made. Without advertising your business sales cann never commence. Without marketing your business you wouldn't make sale so sale and advertisement are like brothers and sisters.

Selling is the activity of exchanging goods for money while marketing is the process of getting people interested in the goods and services being sold. Selling is used to describe the activities that lead to the disposalof goods or services to get value. Selling comes after marketing.

Seems to be a marketing trick that has sprouted into an offspring. It is the act of selling or promoting the commodity to someone who uses an effective strategy. Speak about the product by talking about stuff like how it works, how it will help you, and the disadvantages of the product. Both of these will jump start their desires and give them a sense of excitement. Think of it as a step-by-step guide to marketing a commodity to hungry customers.

In every business today, we often come across the concept of marketing and selling, a number of times. The concept of marketing focuses firstly on the customers requirements, and then the means to fulfil that need is identified. In marketing, the customer creates market demand. On the other hand, the concept of selling emphasises only on the requirements of the seller, therefore, in this process the seller rules the market. Though the marketing and selling sound similar, however there is a fine line that differentiates between these two concepts including meaning, activities, process, out look and management.
In simple words, selling transforms the goods into money, but marketing is the method of serving and satisfying customers needs.

Selling may be a part of marketing as it involves one-to-one customer interaction, but it is not marketing. By understanding the differences between a marketer and a salesperson, companies can therefore plan better, market better and sell better.Marketing is a broad, somewhat simplistic concept, where “selling” is thought of as the exchange activity. Marketing is an overall Organisational activity (the planning, pricing, promotion, packaging, advertising and selling of any Value Offer

There is a huge difference between marketing and selling. Selling in a business deals with the sales department and this is different from the aspect that helps to advertise and make product known to targeted customers. Marketing stands as the intermediary between the product and customer, thus give customers all necessary information about a service while the service is delivered by the sales team.

Marketing and selling cannot be the same. Marketing involves advertisements via social media platforms or word-of-mouth advert. Selling is basically finalizing deals or transaction you and the customers must have agreed on.
