How can a manager enforce discipline at workplace?

One way a manager can maintain discipline in the workplace is by maintain a cordial but not over friendly relationship with his staff.

For a manager to instill discipline in a work place he or she first has to be disciplined because you can't give what you don't have, also discipline should always be about fear, there are other ways this can be done that would in turn foster unity
 
To me a manager is always a manager at place of work so he has every duty and responsibility to enforce discipline to his workers at the time necessary but is advisable in the first scene not in a horrible manner but a calm manner for proper understanding.
 
I think a manager don't have to enforce any discipline the do and don't of an organization is always written if an employee default the manager follows the rule book which the employee is familiar with.
 
Well in reply to your question in the above post concerning how an employee should enforce discipline in his or her workplace, i would suggest that first of all the workplace should have a set of guiding rules so there is no misconduct
 
I think one of the best ways to achieve this is by enforcing rules and regulations in the work place that clearly states the crimes and their purnishments. And by following this layed down laws without compromise

I believe that if the employer does his own part well towards the employee , it will force the employee to give his best towards the success of the business .

A good leader is a role model which means he should be the first to behave properly so that when there is an erring employee he can scold or give a polite reprimand that is worth the ear of the employee. How can you scold a smoker is you are smoking yourself?
