My father's usually comes home to complain of an Incompetent employee, that doesn't put in much hours in the job. The employee was recently promoted to head of a department, so he feels that he can slack off because he now heads the department, and he can't be easily laid off because he's an important figure in the business who has brought much clients to the company.
How can one make him to drop his lax ways and become diligent once again.

Incompetent employees are bad news in any business enterprise, it doesn't matter if he had brought in customers, he has to be stopped. I think creating competitions for him will make him sit up. You can m advise your father to appoint a co-head of department and assign target roles for them, anyone who fails to meet up will step down for the other one.

Try not to clutch incompetent workers since you are doing a damage to your boss just as the non-performing worker.

On the off chance that you need to release this uncouth worker, it will be to the greatest advantage of that individual just as your boss. While you are feeling frustrated about this individual by keeping him in an occupation he can't do or presumably despises, he isn't leaving since he would not like to disillusion you. Release him yet do it in a conciliatory manner

Since he formed an integral part of the business firm. Maybe your faylther should apply humor, care, love to appeal his or her soul to restrain from such detestable act of yours. Also he should know that the best can also be dropped in any given time. Even when he feels irreplaceable, their are others far better than him and can offer more than he offer.

He has to be handled with respect and caution, since he has already done much for the firm but his excesses should not always be overlooked. He should also be always reminded of his role in the office.

We all know this in field of business we have different type people with different characters and we can not be desame...but one is that we have to learn how to understand each other as boss in company you have to understand all your workers so that there will be peace in your place of work

I believe that such worker will have nothing to offer to your dad's company so I would advise that you lay him off after several correction. Before taking the step of laying him off try to make him understand the danger he is likely to bring to the company, then if there are no changes then make a cut in his payment, if there are still no changes then you can lay him off.

First you need to talk to him and warn him to sit up or loose his job. Place him on probation for a few months and watch his behaviour, if he doesn't improve then you will have to lay him off or else his incompetency will affect your business.

Such an employee risks dismissal, don't ever think you are the best, lots of professionals out there who are doing the same job better that him, even working for international bodies. Whatever we have, let's be serious with it. He needs to be warned and put on probation till he gets serious, else he will be definitely demoted.

You need to get to the root of the matter why they are incompetent. Then proffer solutions where needed.

Give them time off to think over the issue if it is marital, scriptural etc inclined.

Show them care and affection to avoid the stress of onboarding of new staff.

For erring employees a query, or sanction and that's of demotion will do, once they are aware of the incoming doom if they don't sit up again when carrying out their duties they'll be more likely to out in extra work.

It's not good to have incompetent employee in company, this can make company weak through he/she duty. He/she bring many customers to company doesn't matter, if he/she is not carry out duty those customers can be later loosed.

He might not be lazying around intentionally. you should call him and have a personal conversion with him. No one will get promoted and start lazying around, he’s probably going through something. If he doesn’t give a geneiune reason, sack him.

There are many ways of handling ah incompetent employee one of those is sanctions. Before during the employee a sanction you have to address the employee a note of warning so as to justify the sanction

Hello, first you have to really define what your functions are, in your comment you say that you have brought clients and if you have been promoted to boss, it gives me to understand that you meet the profile of the position, if you have attitudes as a person that do not like the The rest is something else and it must be handled in the best possible way, we all have attitudes that others do not like, however we must try to live with each other for the good of the company

In a business environment, there are different problems that one will face. And those problems can emanate from either the employer or employee.

in a case of an incompetent employee, it may be as a result of inadequate technical know how or laziness.
when such things happens, you he employer is expected to orient the employee and if the incompetence persists, you threaten the employee to sake him and if it persists, you sake him.

The embodiment of successful business is regularity and diligence effort. If you would love to know, the owner of the business or employer has to invite the employee to have a one-on-one interaction, thereby letting the employee understand the importance of cooperativeness and activeness to the development of the company, stating the likely setback that could emanate as a result of mismanagement, then hear more from his end in order to let him know he is important that is he is given the role and the employer cannot do it alone. After all this is finalise, then let's see how it goes from there, but am sure he would have a rethink and change for the better if not the best.

This reminds me of our boss who replaced the manager who resigned. Our department is IT with the programmers and analysts. Our new boss doesn't know a thing about computers (it was the era of mainframes). You can guess that our boss did not earn our respect. That is sometimes what happens when the executives do not clearly know the person that they appoint to a position. I do not blame the incompetent employee for being in a high position. I would blame the person who appointed him.

I don't think there is a better way to handle an incompetent than sacking the person and employing people that are up to the task... You don't have to pay for what does not suit your taste...not cool at all.... Call the person... Point out the employee fault... Take time and teach such person... Pardon for some months and if that person refuse not to be incompetent.... Make a replacement with a competent person.

Having an incompetent employees in your company will cost you a lot of damages to your company, to avoid such you must employ a competent worker and train them regularly, but if they fail to leave up to standard then you lay them off so as to avoid destruction of your business, then make sure you employ a competent and qualified employee and train them regularly.
