So I just did 150,000 odd queries on an SQL server at once without meaning to.

Well, I did. It came out as 110k lines of array which I now have to write two update queries for.

Update queries now done. Running at home while I’m out. Was at 100% CPU on the MySQL server for a bit there at 70 SELECTs a second

You may wish to be careful to be sure that your loads aren't in the "danger zone" for long. Or else your server may eventually not work (generally logically speaking however it can indeed result the server to "bricking" altogether if it get to such dangerous loads). :(

Seriously? Try again without the “I know better than you”.

That is not how it works. You’ll experience no issues unless you’re hammering it 24/7 for months at a time. 15 minutes worth of database querying isn’t going to cause a problem.

What about concerning the OS and anything else need CPU as well? I could get a burst since I am fairly certain that the CPU does boast a tiny "buffer" but could it really "buffer" these other processes for a whole 15 minutes without slowness?

CPU load includes the OS by default. It's not just the MySQL "job".

I'm not on a CPanel server; I own the hardware, ergo, burst isn't really relevant here. Legitimately surprised you didn't work that one out.

Okay now I fully realized what happened here. I must've had a "brain fart" as they says. :(
