First of all not just religiou forbids the sales of hard drugs even society is against that so as long as society isn't against a sale or law is against i doubt if religion can stand in the way.

When the society or the law of the land is against the sale of a particular item or product then the religious beliefs won't change that fact. But there are some other businesses that isn't against the law but the religion still forbids it

There is indeed a connection, let's take drinking for example, a true christian who sees drinking as a sin would not want to go into the business of selling alcohol because they have the mindset that even if they do not drink themselves, as long as they sell it, they have contributed in making others sin.
