Photoshop is one of the most used graphic design software. I tried using photoshop but I found that it takes a long time to master the skills., therefore, I gave up. What do you think is the best alternative to photoshop? Have you heard of GIMP, which is often called free photoshop?

It has to be Affinity Designer by Serif, it's relatively new. Can you believe it?
The best part is that there's no monthly subscription. I can believe that!
I opened up a web design I made back in 2006 into it and it rendered correctly and perfectly. However upon opening it in Corel Paint Shop Pro, it was shoddy as it couldn't display the layer's blending options properly.

I've tried Gimp and it's not suitable for web design, let alone illustration. Although it is free! We'll see if that changes once Gimp version 3 is released, which has been under construction for three years.

And unless it just went off, Affinity had their entire suite on for around $89. That gives you access to Windows, Mac and iPad versions of all 3 offerings.
I broke down and got it since I use Gimp for some of my site image editing and the spouse is starting to do genealogy and wants to scan in some of her old family photos and use the image of the people in her charts.
I like the fact that it is not subscription based... but it does have its quirks.
I do have a sneaky feeling a new version of Affinity is around the corner since they pushed a 50% off sale.

I just use Gimp myself, though you'll probably hear people say that it's not a full replacement for Photoshop. It does the trick for what I need it to do however, plus it's free. I've heard of Paint Shop Pro in the past, but I'm not sure if it's still around and if it even is if it's worth looking into.
I have used GIMP in the past. Does it still have a floating screen?
Well, have you tried browser based photoshop like program called photopea.com?
