Well, social media doesn't use it, nor does free forum software, unless there is a mod for it. Anyway, I don't care much for it, but I suppose people want to know what a link is about.

That’s always been the theory but I never saw a forum where the members wrote titles for their topics that were keyword rich and good SEO practice topics… admins and articles maybe, but not the general membership…

I don't care about SEO. It's all about people knowing the title of the thread. Anyway, as
@Arantor noted, this stuff isn't helping SEO.

I prefer to have URLS with the title of the threads in the link above. It just makes it easier for me to reply to topics that have lots of replies, that way I don't have to scroll back up to remember what exactly the topic was about. Sometimes my short term memory isn't that great, and a good reminder helps lol.
URLs can help SEO and members however I'm not fussed and have the title of the topic more so then anything, can anyone have proof that it helps SEO?
