Good evening all, thank goodness it's the weekend again! I'm absolutely floored after doing non-stop interviewing all week. I think it'll be a very quiet and chilled weekend for me. Anyone got anything good planned?

I'm basically hired at my new job, but the process is taking forever to get me into the door with stuff such as background checks and onboarding training.

The last few days have been mental; I had to head up to my company's head office which is 4+ hours away by train, so naturally I get myself a hotel for the time I'm there.

Went up Wednesday evening after an electrical fire had disrupted the rail network for hours, Thursday was a day of meetings and quarterly strategy review plus team social night out (we went to a pub quiz and we won), Friday was a teaching day, and today... today was me getting home.

The train spent the first hour on the platform, alternating between cancelled and delayed; it eventually left, got 2 stops down the track (usual journey time, 12 minutes), sat there for another hour before being cancelled. All because of heavy rain causing flooding - this is Britain, rain is *normal*. You'd swear we'd never encountered it before from this.

So after seeing that I wasn't going anywhere any time soon and the general chaos, I just decided to get an Uber home. £320 later... but I just wanted to be home and fortunately I can afford to do such nonsense occasionally.
