Been a bit busy with offline stuff. Work, chores. Sucks not having time to post. 😅 but I’ve got a few articles coming up to make up.

Hey Dan. Much thanks. I do feel lucky with the community we have! Doubt we could ever dominate the market/niche but we’ll always try to improve for our community and keep pushing and stay consistent! ;)
Errr.... actually, you are getting MUCH more traffic than the "biggie TAZ" is. It's funny to watch the games folks play over there... IPS is a classic example... they just CAN'T stand to be criticized and the pitchfork brigades come out in full force... and XF is not much better.
It's a pity that some idiots can't simply see that for certain things certain scripts are better, and certain script providers have a behavior history that tends to repeat itself. Of course, lemmings simply follow the leader.

How's everyone?
hee.hee.hee.. seems I pissed some of the XF staff off after calling BS on $240 migration costs on their cloud and calling it "chickenshit". Seems that their virgin ears were offended by that "horrible" word.
Now, don't get me wrong.. I was not aware of what their cloud agreement consisted of, and it DOES detail a surcharge for importing. But sorry.. I have a SEVERE issue with paying a fee that I can get a VPS for 24 months for to simply "import" a site using existing scripts that they have to do so, and all they need to do is supply the credentials. In the end, it's simply an additional revenue source for them. Personally, I think they should provide importation as an OPTION, just like they do with the installs of their stand-alone script.
I could see if the client had issues with doing the import once credentials were provided for the DB, but please, tell me exactly WHY the admin can't do the import since the remote locations remain the same? If there are issues with the import, then you submit ticket with the understanding that there are additional costs.

Well, I think the import need to cost money but maybe not as much as they are asking. Seems a little over the top. But it’s their choice though. On the other hand, any import they spend time to is time not spend on 2.3. 😀

If they are needed to do it, then I don't have issues... but simply pointing a script at a remote location and running it (even if they claim they do it in a "test mode also") and calling it a "small fee" is my issue. If they have a fixed rate, then that fixed rate needs to be detailed in the onboarding costs.... as it IS a cost that they KNOW about.
Of course, how many would have second thoughts if they saw it was going to be $240 to simply get your data into their cloud offering.
