Should Employee pay for damages?

Putting on a damage on an employee when he accidentally destroy a companies property is not the best for their motivation on the job.
But if it becomes a routine occurance or a delibrate action, then it shoul serve as a deterant against time.

It depends on the level of damage done by the employee and the mode at which the damage was done. If it was intentional or not before deciding the level of purnishment you should melt to the staff.

If an employee accidentally breaks or damages equipment, you may not need to pay for replacement equipment. Accidents happen. Losses should be treated as business expenses. You may only need to reimburse an employee for damaged goods, if the damage was intentional or due to gross negligence.

an employer may make salary deductions from an employee's remuneration, to recover loss or damages only if such damages occurred in the course of employment and was due to the fault of the employee. ... The normal principles of common law applicable to claims for damages will apply to such a claim.

As you said that if employee accidentally damage a equipment, I don't see the reason that we make the employee pay for the damage as far that the employee doesn't intentionally damage it. So, there is nothing last for ever if the equipment has already weak, it will damage.

I don't support the idea of employee paying for damages because most situation the cause of damages is from the client or the employer, based on the excess prescription or over express of details leads to damages.
For instance when there is excess demand of some items and the transport system is incapable of the content, so these led the idea of overloading the causes damages.

We all know that accident happens, if an employee accidentally breaks or damages equipment, will you require him to pay for replacement equipment? Some workers may purposely damage equipment, or out of gross negligence. Since you may not actually know if the damage is done on purpose or not, will you allow them pay for the damages be it on purpose or accidentally?
It really depends on the kind of incident that happened, but suggestively there should be a prior agreement in their clause stating who will foot the bill I case of damages.becaus some incidence that happens are not planned.

It depends on what was agreed in the contract of the employee. This is why it is advisable to take contractual agreement as a new employee serious. If it was stated that the employee would bear any damages of company properties in the contract ,then the employee is obligated to pay for damages.

As an employer, you spend money to buy equipment to run your business, whether it's a catering company, resume writing service or landscaping firm. Because you are using your own money or money you obtained through a loan, you want to make sure your equipment is properly treated so it will last as long as possible. If you have an employee who breaks equipment, either through negligence or willfulness, you need to know how to recoup your loss.

It depends on what was damaged and how such staff has behaved so far at the workplace. If the staff is a good one, I will definitely have a talk and let it go, but when the staff is one that has been acting anyhow at the workplace. Then, he or she will pay the full cost of the damaged item.

No one is perfect. And everyone is above mistake. So when your employee accidentally damage or break any or of your equipment. He or she should not pay for the damages. Accident happens. He or she should not pay for the damages because anything can happen tomorrow, you might need his or her help.

Accidents happen, true. But if the rules of employment states any of that clauses that an employee isn't pay for damages, then he or she should pay for the damages. That is not to accuse the employee but about rules been rules

If an employee or worker mistakenly damage one thing or the other, it is very wrong for you to ask them to pay for damages. Such employee would develop a form of hatred for you and won't show much dedication to his or her job like he normally uses to. It isn't in anyway appropriate to ask an employee to pay for damages.

Accident are unpredictable event and can happen to anyone at any time so if accident happens in a workplace and it is caused by the employees they don't have to pay if the damage caused is not serious but if the damage caused is very serious some certain amount should be deducted from their salaries to teach them a lesson

In my own opinion employees are not to pay for damages because mistake are band to happen. Damages from employees should be recorded under normal damages.

If an employee accidentally damages a company property, the employee should not be asked to pay for the damages. Accidents are bound to happen once in a while. Any employee who damages a company's property out of negligence, carelessness or intentionally should be asked to pay for damages.

No, employers cannot charge employees for mistakes, shortages, or damages. Only if you agree (in writing) that your employer can deduct from your pay for the mistake. Your employer cannot deduct from your wages to pay for mistakes.

Like you rightly said some employees damages the employer's property just because it's not theirs. Of course you know your workers and what they are capable of doing. If it is the careless ones and the damages would have been avoided, they will pay.

Although in this life nobody is above mistake, if a worker damage some things in the company and they require him to pay he will have to pay it, but if it's a good company and a good owner that manage the business, I suggested that he should not require any worker that damage to pay money unless they take the managing director for granted.

Do you need time an employee pays for damage is if it is done intentionally. if an accident occurs and one or two of the equipments is badly damaged I think the business or the company will take responsibility of every repairs.
