Retrenchment at workplace

If I'm faced with such a situation, I will inform them ahead of time so that they won't be caught off guard, and I will also let them see reason that I am not being cruel or unreasonable but trying to keep the business afloat. I will also add little severance package that will sustain their financial needs for the next few months.

Assuming there is a major economic downturn in the the economy, most companies won't have any other choice but to lay off some workers to be able to stay afloat.

This decision is always going to be a very difficult decision for the company to take. Now let's say this is your company and you have no choice but to lay off some of these staffs that you are so fond of,how will you break this news to this workers to lessen the effect of this devastating news?
More reason why I advice people who are working not to base on one work, have something else doing to keep your self and family safe incase anything happens in your place of work, so you will see where to pick up from

In this kind of situation you have to toughen up and harden your heart, it's a difficult job to do but as a boss you've got to do what you have to do. Be truthful and upfront about the situation, explain to them why you are taking the action, reasonable employees will understand.

It's more about coming out straight and honest with them, give them good reasons why this is necessary at this point in time, pay them any possible outstanding at that particular time and let them know how the meltdown has affected the company, how it has reduced the amount of money the company makes and how many workers the fee ones can pay and possibly why the others were not retrenched

On the pressing matter of retrenchment at work place, this is a major issue in the economy of any nation. The major retrenchment saga takes place mostly in the private sector than in the public sector. They'll say is downsizing or rightsizing

Since there are justifiable reasons, it would be better to tell those affected one on one and not just coldly through a an email or a letter. I know it gives a bad feeling to layoff employees especially loyal ones, but it has to be done.

supposedly to improve productivity, are a way of life in Australian industry and can have a devastating effect on those involved. One organisation I was involved with was the last in the company to be developed and thus attracted many people with long time experience in the company. When the redundancies were offered about 70 of the 95 supervisors and managers took up the offer. The effect of all that expertise walking out the door was enormous and it took the organisation.

Explain to your staffs the situation to the company. Be sincere, plain and frank with them. Those who want s to stay will stay. And those who doesn't will go.make decision with the interest of the business at heart.

There is actually no nice way to break sad news to people. You want to ensure that there is a form of sadness in the tone of your speech and you have to explain to them what the economy is doing to the organisation and the fact that you have to let some staff go and you are sorry to break it down to them that they will be among the staff that you will be letting go.

Once there is a cogent reason for the retrenchment and the company has given us the information before hand, there will b no cause for alarm than to accept he company's decision to retrench.

Retrenchment or redundancy · technology changes · the workplace is restructured · the employer can no longer afford to pay the worker · the business is sold and the .
The employer must consult with the employees who are likely to be affected by the retrenchment, or their workplace forum, registered trade union or elected ...

There is no other way around to it. I will just call a little on the more money inform them about the update which is going on in the company. I will let them know that the company has been at heart but the situation will not allow us to accommodate them anymore. After that I will announce the retrenchments today's you are going to get accepted they wish them good luck.

If you are going to retrench some of your staff for any reason, always ensure that the criteria used to select who goes and who stays is very clear for all to see, that way it will be easier to explain to the affected, so that nobody will accuse you of being biased. In terms of explanation, if the affected staff are few, you can have a one-to-one discussion with each of them, if they are many the information can be sent to them via email. Most importantly ensure that their entitlements are paid in full, so they will have something to fall back on.
I agree totally with everything you have said. Atleast if anyone will be retrenched they should be rewarded with benefits that can uphold them while in the search for a new source of income.

There is definitely no way around it. If I felt the retrenchment is for the best interest of the business, I definitely will have to give the letter but in an appropriate manner. Though I understand what the person will pass through but it's for the success of the business.

Return, or redundancy, occurs when an employee loses his or her job because it is no longer needed. It is important that the employer does not make you useless, they make this position useless. This usually means that they will not change your position.

As a good manager that you are, you need to summon a staff meeting where every staff will be on seat. You need to firstly explain how the economic melt down has badly affected the company and their need to keep the company afloat. Give the staff assurance that should the situation changes positively, the lay off staff will be re-employed.

important thing in the person is truth and trustworthiness, and in the event that you have made yourself known to your representatives with those characteristics, you won't have any issue. They will comprehend the monetary circumstance and acknowledge it. I say this all things considered in light of the fact that it has occurred in numerous organizations in my nation today and individuals I know don't accuse the financial specialist. If not to the circumstance of the country.

I will not even pay anyone off, there must be a solution, there must be a way to raise money to keep the company going.some companies don't have salary account they just send the whole of their money to one account and the boss will what he want and leave the rest.

Retrenchment occurs when there is low output of workers in an organisation and low income in the business.this makes the business owner retreat workers in order for him not to run at a loss or go bankrupt.

Retrenchment, or redundancy, is when a worker loses their job because it's no longer needed. It's important that the employer does not make you redundant, they make the position redundant. Usually this means that they should not be replacing the your position with someone else.

Retrenchment or redundancy might happen because:

  • technology changes
  • the workplace is restructured
  • the employer can no longer afford to pay the worker
  • the business is sold and the workers are not kept on by the new owners.
Employers should consult for a reasonable period before making jobs redundant and give workers a chance to look for other jobs.

Many workers are legally entitled to a notice period and severance pay if they are retrenched. Most awards and workplace agreements specify the requirements.
