Is coming in late for work a ground for suspension?

The employee is hired because there is a job to do. When he comes in late for work the flow of work is affected especially if the job is critical to the operation. Some offices issue a suspension for a number of days when the tardiness is too often like 3 times a week and every week. Do you think it is fair to the employee or is the boss too harsh on the suspension? Too many times tardy can also be a reason for termination of the employee which happened to our office before.
This is why I hate offline jobs because the boss is usually strict, if an employee could complete the task on time, what is the need for coming early? Or why should he get a suspension?

Well for me I think Giving employee suspension for coming late to work severally is very okay, The employee might have been warned several times and he didn't take correction, so this suspension is good a disciplinary method for him and I think is highly recommended
 
there are companies in which when an employee violates a rule, he is called for attention, with three calls for attention he is given a warning, and three reprimands are grounds for dismissal . But, each company has its internal policies
 
Before accepting his position, the employee must have been aware of the terms and conditions of the various organizations. Nothing is wrong with it if it is specified that you will be suspended for arriving late.
 
Some workers intentionally likes coming late to work and with that they are motivating other serious workers to start coming late to work and they need to be sanctioned eaely before it becomes an habit .
 
If it becomes a habitual thing of arriving at work late, he should have be asked to sit up and take his job seriously. If he continues to refuse to listen, I believe that's a valid reason to suspend him for a period of time to see if he would change.
 
Coming late five times or more should not lead to suspension but deduction in the staff's salary, suspension doesn't make a worker serious but no one loves deduction from their salaries, a worker may risk dismissal if he shows too much unseriousness towards the job.
I agree with you on this one, people are all going through rough patches and you do not know what they are passing through on a daily basis, so people should be cut some slacks
 
Yeah because lateness shows a sign of unseriousness in a business. Because punctuality is needed in the the good productivity of work. And being there on time shows a sign of seriousness
 
Coming late to work could be the reason why so many people may be suspended , it depends on the terms and condition of the organisation you are working for. Generally you have accepted to obey the rules before you even get started in the first place.
 
Coming to work place late will be the start and if its not curb , it will lead the workers behaving and doing many bad things in the company which might affect the company.
 
Given suspension to a an employee who come to work lately is highly recommend if no genuine reason is table and if done several times. Warning should be the first thing to be done by management.
 
Punctuality is very important for productivity and if you permit the prevalence of negative habits in your company, it would definitely reflect on your productivity.

I have worked in a lot of companies and coming late to work comes with a punishment. There were times when they will even deduct your salary or suspend you
 
The law is the law and must be obeyed and kept for a reason , because if you keep breaking the rules , others will emulate you and in the process ruin the company , so coming late consequitly is a ground for suspension
 
I think this must have already been spelt out in the terms of engagement. There is no reason for a staff to turn up to work late. It demotivates other staff and puts the organization in a fix.
 
I think suspension is second to termination of appointment as you keep coming late. In this case, I'd suggest that you give your boss a genuine reason behind your constant late comings. Going to work late could be a grounds for suspension, everyone believes that you're the unserious type.
 
Lateness is not what I can tolerate as a business person. There is that ocassional lateness which is caused by an unforseen circumstances but for perpetual late coming, you might have to find another job. It doesn't make sense at all.

The worst punishment is the termination of appointment of am employee if he or she has violated the rules and regulation and has been warned several times , like giving them suspension for sometime .
 
Yes, I believe coming late to work should be a ground for suspension. Every work have a set down rules and regulations and jf you believe you can't meet up with the stated rules, Then you should be okay with any punishment melted on you.
