How much is fair for an e-commerce website?

I would think that someone should be paid at least $5,000 to create an e-commerce website that works. What do you think?

That's an insane amount. I'd say like $400 unless the site is a site finished with customers and products are selling well.
 
I didn't realize it was that cheap. The way I look at it, I wouldn't want any sales problems happening because I always fear getting sued.
 
For big projects like e-shops, I believe that official organizations should be responsible for the development. As a result, the development of the platform and the design may be extremely expensive, like $4,000.
 
I depends on your services. I could setup a eCommerce website for around $200 or less. Now the products/services are a different story. Right now I own multiple eComm websites that all run on a single server. Which is also owned by me. Cut out the middle man as much as possible and your cost goes out the door. Although I could learn some more php to make my life much more simple. lol
 
All depends on their SEO experience. If you want to be realistic, $5000 is a good startup budget if you really want to launch something that's going to make some return.
