Every organisation seems to have that difficult and bad tempered co worker who wakes up everyday from the wrong side of the bed, working with such a colleague tends to be frustrating

Find below 5 tips on how to handle the situation effectively

1. Be calm, when tempers have risen, maintain your cool and never get angry.

2. Always be a step ahead emotionally, since you've known how your bad tempered co worker behaves , preempt his or her outbursts and this will make you handle the situation properly.

3. Limit interactions, only communicate when necessary.

4. Accept them the way they are, this way you'll never be surprised by their outbursts.

5. Report to your supervisor, if the situation becomes worse than you can handle or affects your work productivity/output you may have to report to a superior to handle for you.

I have a little experience with working offline and thankfully I did not have to deal with difficult co-workers. I worked for one year as a store manager where I had just one helper and 17 days in a company with six staff.

I never have had a regular job. I have worked part time as a home tutor. My employer was a very difficult person, he delayed my payment, and strictly watched me when I was with this kid. I gave up the job.

I have a considerable amount of time working offline, and these tips are excellent. I usually apply them on a consistent basis because as you describe, we almost always have a problem partner in some way.

Collaborating With a Difficult Co-Worker: Do's and Don'ts
Do examine your own behavior before blaming the other person.
Don't let it get personal.
Do communicate what issues you're having.
Don't get baited into unprofessional behavior.
Do remind yourself of what you stand to gain by working with this person.
Don't be afraid to ask your manager for assistance.

Well said these actually could work when dealing with difficult co workers, give them space for one so as not to affect your own energy which in turn would have an effect on work

Very nice suggestions. Pretty sure working with temperamental worker could be tricky and frustrating. That is why you must be the bigger person and apply some sort of caution.

I have experienced this problem when I was operations manager of a software house. Some programmers would be chatting while working which is a clear interference on the work. Diplomacy works and that was always my style - be diplomatic and you will not fail. I don't remember getting angry or having an outburst in the office.

There are some co-workers that can be very difficult and the reason is mainly because of jealousy or other things. It is therefore good for people to know how to handle difficult coworkers.

Well if I have a difficult employee there is no other way to undo them rather than by sacking them because I love my peace of mind so I would never stoop low to try and exchange words with my employee.

Many thanks for the tips, they are all on point. It may not be a difficult co worker, but a difficult customer or client in the course of carrying out our duties and those suggestions would come in handy.

There is no way you will work with people without encountering difficult coworkers at some points in your work experience. To handle a difficult coworker, you must be respectful to all staff including the difficult ones. You should always be calm when dealing with them.

Personally, i would say that the difficult aspect of a business is to gain customers trust. This is because you are starting out new and will have to compete with other standard competitors.

In addition to what everyone has said, for a boss or a business manager to succeed at handling hard employ they must understand that individual have different temperament. Therefore, different behaviors.

The manager in the place I'm working for is one of the most difficult man I've ever seen,I do not like his behaviour in any way even in the dream but since i am working under him I need to obey all the rules and regulation of the business until I'm satisfied with the amount of money I want to make as salary then I will quit.

Do all managers are the same? I too have manager who is very tough for us to explain things. His rude behaviour is really annoying and sometimes the staffs indulge in hot talks with him for silly reasons.

Handling difficult Co- worker in a business or company is not that easy, but for me I have never have such experience before, but one need to be careful with such people.

The tips you shared are very instructive, most times some co-worker can be very annoying. But your comportment and how you relate with them will prevent conflict.I haven't had some very bad experience, but mostly my interaction has been always professional and when on a casual bases,i allow it not to get too deep.

And if e supervisor is the elder brother, or family member of the worker, how will you handle that kind of employer because an employer can't just be stubborn except he or she as a back bone

An employee do not have the right to argue with the manager because a manager is the controller of the business and he decide what he wants in his business, even though they are annoying but we all must follow what they are saying.

You are talking more like a theoretical guy. It is the norm of the company that we should not indulge in hot talks with senior managers. But that does not mean who are sitting in the higher authority can do whatever they want with their subordinates.
