Yep, I'd say XenForo 2.0 is right around the corner. I downloaded it on a test forum today, and I really like what I see. The new design of the ACP will take some getting use to, but I'd consider it an improvement.

I was playing around with the widgets and really like how simple it is to add custom sidebars.

Never really used Xenferno or vBulletin or any paid forum hosts to be honest, it's too much of a price. Is it worth the hundreds of dollars?

I'd say XenForo is, especially when you can find a used license for like $80. On the other hand, I wouldn't be willing to pay that kind of money for vBulletin. It's garbage.

If you're not interested in spending that kind of money, MyBB and phpBB are definitely quality alternatives. Both of these software certainly have their own kinks as well though.
