Why Is Foreign Products Cheaper Than Made in Nigeria?

Status
Not open for further replies.
I have observed that our agricultural products like rice, chicken, turkey, etc or even wears are inexpensive despite transporting them into the country. What could be the reason?
Well extortion is still prevalent in this part of the world, a man is not respected in his town. It's easier for those products to get to us than outsiders. And moreover the price inflation are hiked by the middle men.

The reason why foreign products that are imported into the country from neighboring countries especially food stuffs are cheap is because most of these products were smuggled into the country so therefore they evaded tax. This is the reason why they are that cheap in Nigeria.

Quality and raw material also has a role to play concerning that . Sometimes, you need to import stuff to get them at a cheaper price. It's better to plan such stuff to make some profit. Most of the foreign products gets the raw material for a far cheaper price than our own.
Well, it wouldn't have the same quality but that can be ignored by many.

When you factor in cost of production, transportation and other expenses, this goes into making the homemade products more expensive than the imported ones. But by the time cost of production and other expenses are low , you'd have a way more cheaper homemade product in Nigeria.

This is quite pathetic and of course it is very bad for Nigerian made products to be sold at the same price with foreign products. Nigerian made products should be cheaper than foreign products in order for Nigerians to patronize made in Nigeria. I think the government should put plans in place to regulate the prices of made in Nigeria products.

Consumption of foreign-made goods increases, which falls into this category. They have never seen Nigeria need industries to produce such goods . importing made in China products to their various countries. and Nigeria that imports consumer electronics from China.

Nigerian makers and fabricates are at fault for this. In some cases they need to bring in fast cash or very ordinary benefit and in the process increment the costs of their merchandise to the level of the ones delivered in different nations. Products delivered in the nation ought to be less expensive and moderate at any expense. There are set of individuals who will favor neighborhood products to unfamiliar regardless of whether it's sold at higher rate and there are likewise set of individuals who will lean toward unfamiliar merchandise to nearby merchandise regardless of whether the cost as will be as double that of neighborhood merchandise. That is singular taste and Choice however all things considered government strategy assumes a crucial part in this..

It depends on the products. Why maybe some products may be more expensive in Nigeria here is because the sellers are importing and they want to put certain charges which they spent while importing the goods into the price of the product, that's why buying some clothes that are imported are usually more expensive compared to when you travel abroad and get it yourself.

It's not only Nigeria you are experiencing such, here in Ghana same thing happen. The main factor that causes such differences in price is the cost of production. You know Africa here most at times we are always implementing traditional methods of production and because of that final cost for the product is always high and the producers are forced to also increase price a bit.

Who told you that foreign product is more cheaper than made-in-nigeria product because as far as I know I made a Nigerian product is cheaper compared to the following one but I don't know where you get this information from can you please specify so that we know which one you are talking about.

On products such as rice you listed, I think the problem is that there are not enough machineries to make work easier locally, hence the increase in price. Livestocks feeds are expensive too, that's the reason for inflation in price during sale

Well in Nigeria, I can boldly tell you the reason for this is because the government are not doing enough to help agriculture in the country. Instead the make sure they are benefiting from the importation of goods.

Foreign manufacturer know that Nigeria is a dump site for their inadequate items , that is the reason some Nigeria advertisers for their narrow minded reasons went into organization with unfamiliar makers particularly those in china to deliver unsatisfactory products at a less expensive rate and fare them into worldwide

Everything that was made in Nigeria like turkey and so on are expensive because of the high amount of food they buy to feed them like other things also because our government we try to remove tax money from does goods so nobody will want to lose in is business that is why everything is expensive here than the foreign one the foreign one have a fix price unlike our that you can sell as much as you like

I have observed that our agricultural products like rice, chicken, turkey, etc or even wears are inexpensive despite transporting them into the country. What could be the reason?
A lot of reason for this as a foreign product are pretty cheaper compared to Nigeria one. The foreign companies have access to lots of things which makes their cost of production to be pretty much cheaper compared to Nigeria counterpart. As a result their product is pretty much cheaper when it's been landed in Nigeria. Also foreign currency please a large role in the cost of production in Nigeria. There was a time when everything was expensive in Nigeria and everybody is blaming the exchange rate of naira to dollar.

Difference in the cost of production. It implies that it's more expensive to produce locally. It's unfortunately true that Nigerian economy is not production friendly, hence the high cost of production.

The marketers are at fault, they are the main reason why the prices of goods to be expensive....foreign food are more cheaper cos some of them are been stored for along time before been sold...and also problems with distribution are affecting the price of food in the country..we also have bad roads and bad government

I have asked this question severally as to why foreign product are cheaper. I really can’t tell why but I will also be reading comment. I really want to Understand why buying shoe from AliExpress is cheaper than buying from our local stores.

I don't believe foreign goods are cheaper than made in Nigeria goods. Some of the items brought into Nigeria from other countries are things that have been rejected by their people, just because we don't have standard of checking things here due to bribe and corruption it becomes cheap in the market.
