Yes, indeed, there are many platforms. I also tried to look into the writing category on Fiverr and Upwork, and it is indeed very popular. However, with popularity also comes competition, but if you have the right skills, it's very possible to make good money by writing articles

The kind of competition you face on fiverr is something that is very stiff which is why you have to offer something that is so good with you make your potential clients who always prefer patronizing your services ahead of so many other competitors you have on the platform.

Well-known websites for publishing articles and making money include Writer Access, iWriter, Contena, Textbroker, and Upwork. These networks provide chances for freelance writing such as blogging, copywriting, and content creation.
There are a number of websites that pay you to write articles. For example, iWriter is a platform where clients request articles, and writers can choose to write and get paid based on the word count and complexity of the content. Another one is Textbroker, which is a content marketplace that connects writers with clients seeking written content. Writers can choose assignments based on their interests and expertise. However, I would advise researching each platform and understanding their payment terms before getting started.

iWriter and Textbroker are very good content platforms for any freelancer who's very much interested in article writing jobs because you are definitely going to find a lot of them under those platform. I have been making use of them for more than 10 years and they have really helped me a lot.

I will only write articles as my last resort. Articles have been stressful whenever I tried writing on any subject and it's why I don't accept any articles writing job easily unless the pay is too much for me to look away from it easily. My first and only article work came from Upwork.
