When is the right time to hire an additional employee?

Perhaps the right time to hire an employee is when you feel a lots of people are leaving the company and you should be concerned about why people are leaving your company in the first place!

Most banks try to minimize cost and maximize profit especially in my country though I wouldn't know if this is peculiar to other countries.
Over here banks are no longer interested in hiring full time staff but only contract staffs who are with at most Higher National Diploma HND so that they will be paid small salary.
 
The businessman isn't far from the truth, you hire when the current workload is more than the staff at hand and income is enough to sustain and cater for extra hands (or projected income would do same).

When the task becomes unmanageable, as you correctly stated, it is time to recruit. In reality, I don't necessarily agree with that viewpoint; I believe that if you want to operate a successful firm, you must have the appropriate people on board from the start.
 
If the work is becoming overwhelming and becoming more time consuming, I think it's the right time to hire an employee. But before that, you should make sure you have enough finance to pay for their services
