What's the difference between a joint venture company and a merger?

In joint venture, you still have a level of control in that there's no controlling stakes being lost; the two parties are owners
In merger, there's always a controlling partition

Joint ventures is, in my opinion, when two or more parties invest capital to create a company and make a profit together. A merger is when a company created absorbs one or more companies that have been dissolved. Therefore the benefits are of the company that is maintained without having to share these profits.
One basic difference between a joint ventures company and a merger is joint ventures are two companies coming together for to achieve their main aim and purpose why merger is the combination of two companies.

Seriously, I'm not sure if I would ever be open to having any business that is set up in such a way because I have had own fair share of back stabbing in business.

I'll add that a major has a larger scope well on the one hand or joint venture is limited in scope. Mergrr is when two or more companies come together and absorb into one solid company while joint venture is when two or more companies come together share the cost of responsibility and also bears the profit, loss or consequences.

I think merger is actually a situation where two or more companies joins together to make a strong competitor and joint venture could involve individual investing in capital to start a business

Joint business is quite different from a merger. Even though it involves the combination of two or more people or companies. The simplicity is what makes the difference. Joint business is more simpler than a merger. Merging involves coming together of conglomerates.

Merging refers to amalgamation of two companies whereas as a joint venture refers to two separate companies working together to make a product.

I have been hearing so much about these two terms, I know there are similarities between them. These are both strategies that businesses take to survive or stay afloat in this very uncertain and very competitive business world right now.
Now I want to know the difference between a joint venture and a merger. Thanks guys as you help me out here.
I think in a joint venture, two organisations come together and share resources as one entity.
In a merger, two organisations come together, but exist separately. The two organisations can contribute towards the growth of each other in some way.

In simple language, a joint venture is a cooperation contract both in production factors, both raw materials, labor and capital by forming a new company, while a merger is the incorporation of two or more companies into one existing company, for example Beermoney, gg merger with Bizdustry .
You couldn't have said it better. What happens in a merger is that a company joins another major company. While a joint venture could be different people partnering up to form one organisation.

A joint venture happens when two firms continue to carry out business operations but form a separate entity while a merger happens when two firms carry out business operations as one single firm rather than two.

Joint venture company is a company formed when two or more than two companies invest to form one company. The stakes in the company are owned by various companies. Merger is when two companies merge to become one company.

Joint venture is when existing companies come together through an agreement between them to work together though retaining there identity, but merger is when a company comes together and become one loosing their previous identity and becoming a new entity.

In the full essence, it seems to me like they are almost the same thing but a merger seems like it's more permanent than the other and will take longer to break off.

Jount venture is a partnership of two or more individuals or companies to share profit.it is in short duration.it is also temporarily in nature.
Merger is combining of two or more companies merge to becomes one.it is permanent in nature.it is done to improve quality and matket value.

They are some how similar but different
In a merger, two or more companies combine forces and become a new, separate entity. ... However, in a joint venture, two or more companies combine and share their resources for the purpose of pursuing a specific goal.
A joint company is a company that was created by coming together of two companies to achieve certain aim while a merger is a situation whereby a company was forced to join another company because they are financially incapable.

The difference between a joint venture company and a merger is just show that they comes together to make a business. This togetherness is of different ways.joint ventures start together as one from beginning of the business while merge are comes together when a business can not survive as an individual company.

The difference between a merger and a
Venture is that a merger consist of two or more businesses that combine to form a single business while a venture consist of two separate businesses that carryout the same business operations under their separate names.

A merger is a situation where a company is taking over another company by buying the other company or joining the other company in order to survive and the name might be changed to the name of the company taking over.

I am wondering what would be the scenario of shares and stockholders in case the two companies merge or form a joint venture. Does the value of the shares increases when such kind of thing happens?
