What is difference between network marketing and affiliate marketing?

I see ads related to network marketing and affiliate marketing on social media . I also tried some affiliate programs but one thing is creating confusion. I am unable to understand network marketing .So can anyone tell me what is difference between network marketing and affiliate marketing?

Pardon me if I am wrong in my understanding. When I hear network marketing what comes to mind is the MLM - that is multi-level marketing which is a kind of scam. However, I know that there are MLM which are not scams because they sell real products but in the end earning from the work of the person that you recruited is still immoral to me. Anyway, network marketing is having your own network of people to help you in the marketing. That's my understanding of the real network marketing term.

Netwrok marketing is quite different from Affiliate marketing though both are online business. Networking marketing runs multi level marketing system.

That is, the business function based on downlines. There are network marketing that require you to bring two or three downlines in order to level up.

Affiliate marketing in the other hand, does not run on referral. You simply set up a website in a niche fill it up with product reviews and drive traffic to the sites and make commision on every sales simple.

Referring people and doing it alone are two different things.
In network marketing you are expected to bring in people that is recruite people into the business
In affiliate marketing you have to work it by yourselve do it on your own.
You can do this by directing people to the product or goods and services through your affiliated link
