Forum staff titles are pretty routine and general.

Most of them are admin/administrator, mod/moderator, and sometimes super moderator.

Do you think these titles are bland and just old fashion?

Have any of you ever used more unique staff titles, especially ones that are more relatable to your niche?

I'd love to hear from you!

I will admit that titles such as admin/administrator, and mod/moderator, do seem overly used by most forums and never really seem unique.

I am someone who likes to be a little unique if I can be and if I can find a way to change titles to something that works with the niche of my forum, I will try and do that.

They are a bit outdated and can get bland to read. I think having unique titles based around your niche can spice things up! I used to have creative titles for my first forum, which was a Pokemon modding forum. My banned group was called "Bad Eggs", which refers to a glitch found in the Gen 3 games. I think I called my Administration group "the Elite 4" which are the highest ranked trainers in most Pokemon games. My moderators were called "gym leaders" which are the second highest ranked trainers. Normal members were just "trainers".

On a serious note, there is value in cultivating special language and customs for a small and niche community. You are building your own tribal language.

With that said, the larger you grow and the more you approach the size of the general population, the more that tribal language will seem non-standard (eg. It's okay to have really fun and unique titles when you have 200 close-knit friends. When you have 100,000+ users, the average user will be confused more than anything by stylized titles. Case in point: if you go to Reddit, it's a clear and consistent term for Moderators for each Reddit, regardless of the topic). Your ability to define strong tribal language and customs can heavily depend on your community lifecycle.
