Good afternoon everyone. :) Hopefully you're all having a great weekend so far. Mine has been relaxing, I got to try the new flavor of Mountain Dew and it's not too bad actually! It's supposed to taste like a Bomb-pop. It does if you let the flavor savor in your mouth, otherwise it tastes a bit like Frost Bite or Voltage.

What is the name of the new one? I'm curious! I have to drink zero sugar ones so they may not have it in zero sugar, but I'll make my husband get it so I can try a sip lol. Glad it's been a relaxing weekend for you!

It's called Summer Freeze and it does come in a zero sugar version! I got it from Walmart. :)

Better to have another option rather than just hoping to get scheduled. Hope it gets worked out Cory!
I'm looking at my schedule for the next few weeks and it looks like they're starting to give me more hours, but to make some extra bucks for some upcoming stuff, I'll probably be DoorDashing on my days off. Thanks for the encouragement!

I don't think I've ever tried Mountain Dew, probably because I've heard it's one of the sodas with the highest caffeine content, and if I have too much caffeine it just usually triggers my anxiety.

Finally the storms are out of the forecast, the sky is clear and the "repaired" scope is set up for about 8 hours of capture tonight to see if my "fix" is actually that or if I'm going to have to buy a new scope. It seems like in astronomy/astrophotography, whenever you buy something new or "fix" something broken you can guarantee at least several days (if not weeks) of cloud cover keeping you from playing with it. It's such a common occurrence that folks joke about it and that they need to "co-ordinate purchases/fixes" to a certain day of the month. 🤣

Yeah, I've been seeing so many thunderstorms, hail, and tornado warnings lately in North Texas. Someone said somewhere in Texas there was grapefruit-sized hail. Luckily, our town didn't have any hail or tornadoes.
Pretty sure that was around Waco (we call it Wacko in our neck of the woods thanks to the Branch Davidians).
Those storms were only about 90 miles from us and blew our way. For some strange (and honestly good) reason, the last several years severe storms can approach the "Holy City" and the severe part seems to split and go around and we just get rain and thunder/lightning. It happens so regularly that it's something that many here comment on that follow the weather. Some think it's because the city is on an iron ore "hill" that sits higher than some of the surrounding country side. We do get quite a few ground strikes with lightning. Just in my 1 block there have been (in different storms) about 8 trees destroyed over the last 2 years.
It's been several years since we got hail any larger than a pinto bean, and those were soft stones.

Morning everyone! Happy Sunday.

Sitting here hoping that all my captures complete before the sky starts to brighten. The current target only rises high enough at around 2am currently. It's the Iris Nebula... one of the few nebula that you actually can capture in LRGB (or RGB). Most nebula you need special filters to get good shots with (Ha/OIII/SII).
I'm hoping mine will come out somewhat like this once I compile it.

That’s amazing @Tracy

I’m here at a horse establishment for my daughter. First time we’re at this place.

Aww that’s fun! Has she been to another horse establishment before?

Not yet - was the first time. Definitely signing her up for lessons. Once every two weeks and with time we’ll probably buy her own horse.

Got another clear night scheduled (by my app) for tonight, so I plan on a few more hours. One of the downfalls of using a mono camera compared to a one shot color is with the OSC, you can do the 100 exposures compared to having to divide it up amongst 25 discrete filters with the mono. The benefit of the mono is that with each filter are getting 100% of the pixels to that color (RGB) compared to 25% R, 25% B, 50% G with an OSC camera. You can get very decent images with the newer dedicated (cooled) OSC's, but the mono's will still provide more structure detail in the long run.

ah so there are pros and cons - it is so beautiful regardless!

Hey y'all, what's going on today?
Grabbed my "morning" flats for my telescope and about to call it a "night" (albeit it's morning here). Tonight promises to be another clear night so it's off to nappy land for a couple of hours.
