Members becoming inactive

First thing to do is finding the root cause behind why its happening. Then make a plan on how to nullify the issues identified. Lastly, execute your plan. Most probably it'd be because of the quality of content or the missing fun they used to have earlier or it might even be because of not getting recognized and appropriate rewards for their activity.

If it's people who were regular, like really really regular. I'll either, myself or one of the mods will send them a personal e-mail. Sometimes works, sometimes the e-mail bounces back.

When members become inactive, it is always something you hate to see and it can leave you feeling as though you are doing something wrong even though you may not be.

I personally tend to try events or even contests to help bring people back who may have been inactive as well as drum up some new content for them to be able to interact with as well.

Sometimes events and contests tend to work but it can still be difficult to get many inactive members back to being active as life happens and things change.
