Well I don't really know more about this how it work but it is important to choose keywords to search for internet, because people are using it for research.

Long tail keyword is simply the length at which a particular keyword he is and I think it is the best for people who do not have authority in their blogs yet.

They're mostly interwoven. Keyword has to be with inspiring just short single words while key phrases has to do with inputing an incomplete sentence while long tail is inputting all the words in the title to get the content displayed. That's my opinion!

I don't think there's a difference between key words, key phrases and long tail search term because i feel like they all perform the same function.

They have difference, for example long tail search term is the exact term used by searchers, it can be a question or a statement. For example, why am I ugly is a long tail search term, where as health tips is keyphrase.

I think that key words are a lot better than the phrases because if you are using a phrase then you have to make sure that you are able to get people to search that entire phrase whereas with a word it is easier and more likely to get that.
