How many staff members is too many?

The number of staff members one may need to get for his forum depends on the number of participants one has got in that forum. It the participants are actually in very large numbers, then you'll need more staff

I think 20 above the required staff is too much for your company because it is going to tell on the cash flow of your company.

How many staff members are too many for a small forum in your opinion? What are the factors that webmasters need to consider? Activity? Forum Statistics? Or,"x" amount of messages or members?
I don't think the problem should be focus on how many stuff, because it depends on the work load and well you want to expand the forum

I think 3 staff members are just okay for a small forum. I think of the three of them are consistent and comes online regularly then there won't be any problem from any angle.

There is nothing like too many stuff. It all depend on the level of your business. Let's say in the initial stages of your business you had 10 steps only but as a business progress is there are areas that need taken care of and that may prompt the need to employ more staff. Another factor what considering is the productivity of the Staffs. They are staff position that are irrelevant and can be taken up by others and it's our job to recognise them to avoid paying or necessary salaries and cluttering the workplace.

Its really depend on your forum will actually determined how many staff you have to order to work in the website, if actually there is much work in the website then you can order more staff.

Number is not the issue here, you should focus on building a team. Yes, when you have a formidable team as workforce, it doesn't matter the number of workers in your team but what matter is how your team is able to carry out a task successfully.

In economics as you add more and more units of something, output grows at a decreasing rate, generally more is preferred to less but there are consequences

How many staff depends on the traffic you are getting. If you have more subscribers theres no problem to hire more. Less subscribers, cut down ur staff

The business income will be the determinant of the numbers of staff a company will employ. When the staff are more than what the income generated by the company can afford, then the staff are too much.
I think that is just the simple way of addressing this issue of staff.you don't just employ a staff just to fill a vacant space, there must be a need and when that need is not there then the staff strenght is noot needed.

It depends on the work they do on the forum. Sometimes the forum might be small, but there is a lot of things to be done. all I know is not wise to employ many staffs on a forum.

You can hire more members if you feel it is right for your business or organisation. Ensure you have the proper team management and control over them .

If your forum is new and if you think you can give a lot of time, you don't need another staff member until you have at least 100 members creating dozens of posts every day. Don't burn your budget by hiring a lot of staff members.

How many staff members do you think is too many to have on a new/dead forum?

I have two moderators and three admins including me. My forum is semi-active and I'm working on getting it even more active right now. I think I have enough or too many staff memebrs. xD

it also depends on what forum you have. if you have a forum with 1000 users and there are around 500 posts per day, 2 moderators are enough ... but I know forums with 200-300k members where around 10k posts per day are posted, where you need more staff members to keep everything organized.

Absolutely no staff member is too many and none is too small, it all depends on the size of your business. Every organization has the required workmanship needed to drive their operations to success.

I think it depends on how big the forum is. If there more responsibilities for the webmaster to handle, then I think hiring 2 or 3 people will certainly help shed some weight.

For a small forum, anything above 20 staffs will be too much but as the forum grows, you may need to hire more staffs. This also will depend on your financial status.

If you are looking at it from the public point of you then there is no amount of stuff that you can consider to be too much. The most important thing is that you should employ as many as you think would have work to do.

The number of staff members should be equal to the ratio of members you have on your website. It would be difficult to manage a website or a forum if you have many members and only a handful of staff members who would manage the forum.
