How important is an active admin on a forum?

It's something I find important, to know that someone is taking care of its members and making sure the place runs smoothly. I used to belong to a site called Admin Retail where the owner was very active to begin with but over time he seemed to disappear and there were signs the site was failing. Is an active admin important to you?

Yes of course! Very important, first of all to ensure the forum is not littered with spam, secondly it makes members of the forum feel at home to see an admin interacting with them

That's true. GPT forum is like this. I think it's basically running itself at the moment but I am struggling to find something to post on. It's good that it has no spammers but I think people are going to leave due to lack of activity if things don't pick up soon.
