How do you decide whether to keep your photos: in a folder on your computer or in cloud storage?

I don't have so many things to worry too much about where to store them. But if these are some important photos, I save them only in cloud storage. After all, I had a situation when I left these photos on the computer and it was very old and it just turned off one day and did not turn on again, so I had to visit a wizard to extract the photos from the disk.
