Redundancy is a situation when the employer no longer requires the job an employee does, it arises when the employer-
* No longer has a requirement for the work an employee was was employed to carry out.
* Has ceased to carry on the business in which the employee was employed or.
* He ceased to carry on business at the place at which the employee was employed.
Now having known all these about redundancy in business, how do you think a business can avoid a situation of redundancy? What are the things a company can put in place to mitigate against redundancy in the organization?

To prevent your company from having such cases, it is best you define your service and rules of your company from the beginning, even before employing those who would work with you. And ensure that all your workers go for frequent workshop to equipped them for the job available.

I think the business/company should be objective enough to avoid such situations. These shows a poorly planned framework or bad management in the organisation. To ensure maximum productivity every area has to work at maximum efficiency towards productivity, should there be a section that doesn't contribute to the overall productivity of company, then should be cut off to save funds and increase efficiency.

It is important to make sure your business is having a direct focus, such that you do not get to employ people whose services are not needed for a very long time. To avoid this, you should get contract staff members and make an agreement so that after the time reaches, they would leave the organization.
This would help avoid the situation you talked about

There are factors that needs to redundancy.
It occurs when the services of the employees are no longer needed or wanted.

We can avoid redundancy by also retraining employee from time to time to meet up with changes in the workplace.

They need to be updated on the current working condition and what is to be done.

For redundancy to be eliminated in a business, the prospective Business owner should have a goal and plan of what he or she wants the business to look like in the first place. If your business doesn't have an objective, you won't have a goal ot Target to meet and that's just the simple fact about how to reduce it eliminate redundancy completely.

  1. Freeze external recruitment.
  2. Put a stop to voluntary overtime.
  3. Offer voluntary redundancy.
  4. Consider career breaks.
  5. Think about secondments.
  6. Review employee benefits.
  7. Consider lay offs.
  8. Mull over short-time working.

Generally an employer cannot avoid making a redundancy payment if the redeployment requires the employee to accept a lower level or lower paid job. On the other hand, redeployment is not necessarily unreasonable simply because the employee has to relocate to be able to continue working in the new position offered.

Redundancy in business can occur as a result of inadequate planning, when a business plan is properly laid and carried out, there will be less cases of situations where you will no longer need an employees anymore. So employers need to know where they need more manpower and where it is not necessary.

Redundancy will and continue to occur in organization especially when we have breakthrough in technology daily making employees out of their league..one way to control it is by using contract staffs and for employees to be continually at the top of their game

Redundancies are often the first thing business turn into when the employer need to cost costs, but these are some options he/she can consider first.
1. The employer must take time to eliminate voluntary overtime by some employees
2. The employer should also try and work with the resources he has in tough times, this will help him to keep new cost down.
3. Employee benefits may also have to be evaluated in such situations

In most big companies here there is a review of the so called TO - Table of Organization - for each unit whether it is a section, a department or a division. The section head can be a supervisor of assistant manager who would justify the present setup of the organization. Likewise with the manager for his department and the vice president for his division. Usually the next higher position does the review. When there is an excess of staffing then it will be handled by the HR department for movement to another unit or for early retirement.

It is very important and imperative to have a good plan for business from the beginning in which that will make every duty or obligation carryout frequently and make business succeed. To prevent the redundancy situation in a company, that will be a task of company managements, they should always able to know what is necessary to do and what is not necessary to do before they employ people to a duty.

Redundancy is a killer of every organisation. Redundancy is a situation where staff have no activities to carryout. Having said this, all employer must work with the Hiring Manager to draw up job description for every employee. In the case of an redundancy from employee, a warning should be given to such individual with close monitoring and if there is no change, the person can be advise to resign.

Set goals and objectives are critical areas of concern for any organization that wants to trife in the current economy.
The human resource management department must be above average in performance to tackle the issue of redundancy.

Mitigating redundancy is hard but I think that if you have a job that you think that you will only need a couple people for and you don't see this happening again in the future then the best may be to employ people on a contract for that job only so there are no expectations that are created, or what you can do is you can hire a consulting firm to help you out. In this case you do not have employees whose skills become unsalable to the company.

To avoid redundancy, there should be division of labour and specialization. So any worker that is post or task is no longer relevant or requires will be easily detected and lay off or given another task. Or there should be over employment.

To avoid redundancy in organization

Freeze external recruitment. ...
Put a stop to voluntary overtime. ...
Offer voluntary redundancy. ...
Consider career breaks. ...
Think about secondments. ...
Review employee benefits. ...
Consider lay offs. ...
Mull over short-time working.

This occur when the organization is not meeting target and reasons for existence anymore and could result into the detardment of the organization but to avoid this. Proper management, reduction of excess sales and non important conversations between employees and employer.

You can reduce redundancy for an organization when you have good capable workers in your organization. Redundancy kill the potentials of companies, as a manager you must make sure your human resources manager is very active,if he or she is active then the workers will be active.
