Forum with team or alone?

I don't think that someone can run a forum on his own without the help of people because forum is a very big website that has sub-topics and sections that it will overwhelm just someone running and managing the forum.

The activites and the traffic will determine. If the traffic is too much for me to handle, I will make sure I have some people as a team working collectively for the betterment of the forum.

With my main forum, I have one moderator that I work with. It's great to have people around. I have had paid and volunteer moderators over the years, and it makes a big difference when you have that extra help. I used to run the forum all by myself, and that just wasn't practical with everything else on my plate.

Truth be told, most times i would pick working alone than having a team. Not all your team members share your vision or dreams, so their manner of approach would be totally different from yours. Some might not be even interested. Is rare to actually see a good team that is ready to work and stay with you all the way. So when you find one, make sure you keep it.

In my opinion if you have the budjet of course you should find a team surrounding you. That whould be helpfull for you without a question the only problem here is that you should find a trustworthy team

I also think it would be hard without a team. I can't imagine managing a forum alone, with all the moderation and other duties falling on one person's shoulders. On some forums by the way I have also seen moderators who are volunteers.

As I had posted in another thread, I was once invited to be part of the team for a new forum. It is about horse racing. The setup looked good because in a forum there should be a team to make it going so that even if there are no new members the forum will be moving well. However, too many cooks spoil the broth so I declined.

For a forum with thousands of active members and creating hundreds of posts every hour, you need a big team. You need to closely watch what is being posted. This is the major work in forums.
Like bizdustry that has a lot of members and keeps looking for ways not to disappoint the members, it mostly likely cannot be run by one man, having a team makes it effective.

When I am ready to start a forum, I will start alone. Once the forum begins to build up with a lot of members and posts, I will be hiring staff for the forum.

I don't think you can ever successfully run a forum all alone by yourself without the need of having a team by your side to help out. You will simply wear yourself out doing it alone

Actually, I created a couple of forums alone. The forums could not survive too long because I could not devote time. Forum is not one man show just like blog

Blog might be carried out by a single man, but not for forums. You need staffs, members who will contribute effectively to the forum's growth.

The basic difference between a forum and a blog is a forum cannot be run single handedly where as blog is basically one man show. Forum needs a lot of members

If there’s enough money to start and establish yourself, i think you would want to start with a team if you don’t want to make work tedious for yourself

Blog can be managed single handedly but forums are carried by teams either 2 or more people. Because only the Admin can't manage it alone, it will be work load for him.

I failed when I started a forum alone. When I decide to launch another forum I will will join with someone experienced in running a forum so that I don't fail again.

The budget for getting a team to start a forum is one thing, getting the right and selfless team members is another thing. Bit it is better with a team than going it alone

I think that its good to get a team in starting a forum. Two heads is better than one. Just make sure that you are in heart, mind and purpose. Unity is needed in team forum.

It will.most definitely be too hard for you alone to say you want to be managing a forum wall by yourself without a team. It will ware you out. A team is better than alone

Having a team should be for those who can afford it. But I don't think someone can operate a forum like this without having a team.
