Who heard the news?
I have been waiting for someone to post something about Facebooks name change for quite sometime, But i guess i decided to do it myself.
Facebook A platform that was initially built for Harvard students, Now a multi billion dollar company, Over the years it has unsurprisingly acquired enemies.
According to an article on Newser.com Facebook has been accused of driving people apart. And i think this is the reason behind Facebooks name change.

As mentioned above Facebook has been accused of driving people apart, And then MARK went ahead to create a virtual reality (mind blown, If you have watched Ready player one)

A Virtual reality called MetaVerse

This is an example of the metaverse, I don't know about you, but whatever people said about Facebook will be reconsidered if they succeed on launching this.
The metaverse is a virtual reality that is aimed at getting the world closer to each other than ever recorded in history, am vert sure of that.

So What's Your Opinion On this? As For me it's the future

This would bring people or users closer. Imagine chatting with your friend in virtual reality like he was there with you.
I mean, the possibilities and fun this would bring is endless.

The possibilities are endless and it would be more fun. I believe there is a downside to this though, not everyone would have access to these technology as it would be expensive most especially in Africa countries.

that's very true , Facebook will bring many people closer but I believe it has it own disadvantage,if the name of Facebook was changed many things will totally change on also.

I came across the update on Facebook and I keep wondering why they went to such lengths to have their name changed? Does it have anything to do with rebranding?

I think it is a great development. Facebook changing to meta, shows that Zuckerberg is looking beyond Facebook and Instagram success, the metaverse is going to be game changers, seeing as it is combining virtual, augmented and physical reality.

Allegedly, the reason for the name change is similar to what happened with Google/Alphabet Inc. in the past. They wanted to separate Facebook as a brand from Facebook as a platform, so it is less confusing, since Facebook/Meta is also the company behind Instagram and WhatsApp.

Ever since the issue of Cambridge analytical case with Mark Zuckerberg and selling of users data, I don't really trust that man one bit.

Agreed. Facebook is culpable of using user data for gains, as seen during the previous US elections. The issue you have raised is of some concern among people, he assured people that there won't be a breach of their data.

One thing that is very common with these people is that they will promise you one thing and they will do another thing because in the end what they are looking at for used a way to make more money for themselves which is why I don't trust any of his promises.

Facebook company has rebranded itself to Meta. However, the facebook as a social networking site remains the same, there is no change in the name or the functionality

I guess a lot of thinking went into the name change and looking at it critically, Facebook has grown beyond the social media platform and a name change to show its reach is a good development.

I understand your point. I think the only thing he can do is promise and assure people. People are still going to use the network, millions even. With all the Facebook controversy, people still use Facebook to date.

I believe that whatever Facebook decides to name their products is what benefits them in the end because there is always a reason to any policy Mark Zuckerberg changes.

Yes, Facebook has been changed to Meta. But most of the features of the app are still unchanged. No matter the name, I hope most of the unique features on the app will still be available.

I've come across this news but still struggling to understand the reasons for the change of name. To me 'MetaVerse' sounds like an entire different world, a secluded little world unlike 'Universe'. Nevertheless, it's cool that the features are not touched.

I'm still optimistic about the virtual reality, how Facebook will improve socialisation and businesses. I don't think the name of the app Facebook will change.. I stand to be corrected.

The change of name to Metaverse is to expand the company administration to other field and businesses. The company name Facebook will limit them from expanding hence, the need of change of company name.

Let us just wait and see how the new features will turn out. Facebook changing some of its features and name will not affect the best social network. The fact that it will bring Many people together Will be welcomed by all

They are changing the companies name but the app still maintain the same name. Yes their status fell ever since the whistleblower incidence. If their are other big techs, this is the right time to take on or rival facebook.

I also read in Google news couple of weeks ago and I have been wondering why but I realized that there is nothing constant as change, this is a choice of nomenclature
