I don't think there are any disadvantages in employee benefits. Like you said it is there to help motivate the employees. It makes them value their jobs because not many jobs come with such benefits. Employee benefits are good and companies should use it if they can.
You are correct there is no disadvantage in employees benefit. There is no disadvantage in appreciating a good idea, effort and good results. When you appreciate the effort and hard work of your employees they increase efficiency.

Giving employees benefits or if employees know that if they perform at a certain level, there is a reward or benefit waiting for them, I makes them put their best in making sure the company grows to a very great extent, since they are aware the more, the company grows, the more beneficial it would be to them.
