Well I think that's the major option for you now. Asides them anyways, you can make use of forums and platforms like Yahoo answers, Quora, Pinterest.
If you provide quality on such spaces, you can easily redirect them back to your site for more.

I don't know if you can find a better free platform than social media. Especially that most of us have many followers in social media then that is clearly an advantage already when it comes to promoting your website to get traffic. If only a forum would allow to post the link of your website then that is also a good platform especially if the forum has thousands of active member. But for my choice, work on Facebook and you cannot go wrong with the traffic.
