does time spent in traffic reduce productivity?

The time spent in traffic reduces productivity. This is usually due to the wait one has to go through. One may be sitting down in his car waiting but fatigue may set in as a result of maybe extreme anger ofmr eagerness and anxiety. The sum total of these negative emotions can cause low productivity at work and may also lead to ones withdrawal from o es work place when it accumulated over time.

The time spent on the traffic can actually affect productivity, as you said after spending long hours on the road, they may get to the company tired and sometimes late so the time they may need to accomplish a particular job will be lesser, and then they end up extending the work to the following day. There are some companies that have buses that go around to pick up staff so if the company can create provision for a company bus that can go around and pick staff early and bring them to work on time, it will really help.

Time spent in traffic can affect productivity owing to the time lost in traffic . In mega city like Lagos, people using up to find to ten hours in traffic disturbing or hindering them to carry out certain obligations or the other. Some sleep, while some goods becomes perishable.

Thats true

A secondary effect of traffic congestion related to delays is the inability to estimate travel times. ... These experienced city drivers have to build "just in case" of bad traffic. It takes time and time to do other things throughout the day.

To some extent it affects productivity, and the discrunts involve travelling or transporting can channel the concept of the mind to affect the productivity output, this can be managed by good timing, method of operation and advancement in goods delivery.

The time you spend in traffic can reduce your productivity and can also not have any effect on your productivity depending on how you manage the situation. If your workplace is far to your home, it is advisable to move or live closer to your work place to avoid staying in traffic for a longer period.

Another way you can manage the situation is by living early to avoid staying longer in traffic. The way traffic can reduce a worker productivity is after he might have spent a longer period in traffic, it is understandable that he will be tired or restless and will likely spend some reasonable time that is supposed to be dedicated to his work to relax to regain his lost strength in traffic. So traffic cann reduce or not reduce worker's productivity depending on how he manage the situation.

Whereas traffic congestion disrupts business activities and reduces productivity level, research has shown that it may also be a symbol of growth in an economy. As the economy grows and real income of household increases, vehicle population surges up, contributing to traffic congestion, particularly within cities.

We all know how the valuable time spent in traffic can be very frustrating to say the least. It makes one tired and exhausted before you even reach your work place so it is absolutely possible that traffic can affect productivity so you should try as much as possible to make employees work from home.

Yes now. That is basic lol. Imagine you are heading for work in the morning you are anxious because you have loads of activities waiting for you already only to spend like two hours in traffic. When you finally get to work. You'll be left exhausted.

Congestion Costs: This is why such serious attention is paid to the Texas Transportation Institute’s (TTI) Annual Mobility Report, which estimates the costs of traffic congestion, principally the value of lost time as well as excess fuel costs. The fundamental premise, long a principle of transportation planning and policy, holds that more time spent traveling costs money, to employers, employees and shippers.

Mobility & Productivity: Groundbreaking Research: Yet, until fairly recently, very little research was available to document the connection between travel times and the productivity of urban areas. The pioneering work has now been done by Remy Prud’homme and Chang-Woon Lee at the University of Paris. From reviewing French and Korean urban areas, they showed that productivity improves as the number of jobs that can be reached by employees in a particular period of time (such as 30 minutes) increases.

Focused US Research: US reports on mobility’s role in reducing poverty came to similar conclusions. A middle 1990s report for the Federal Transit Administration found that low income households in inner city Boston were at a particular disadvantage in obtaining jobs in the fast growing suburbs because transit service was either spotty or non-existent. Margy Waller and Mark Allen Hughes noted in a report for the Progressive Policy Institute that “In most cases, the shortest distance between a poor person and a job is along a line driven in a car”. Steven Raphael .

Yes it affects Employees'and not only them everybody productivity, it causes stress which drains the body and mind, it's better to find better and more comfortable means of transport so as to eliminate this stress.

of course it does, you shouldn't see the few minutes of delay of one worker, but you have to calculate the total, the easiest thing to do to avoid crowd and traffic issues is by using bikes, they are an idea solution here where
If you are living in a big city like Lagos State it can be very hard to overcome the issue of traffic holdup why you are going to the place of work. The best solution to this type of problem is to have your accommodation closet in the place of work. Or you work very early in order to beat the traffic. or you can get yourself a special Rider that will be taking you from your home to place of work very early in the morning.

Employees that reside in the urban areas will have a lot to say about their ordeal on daily basis navigating to their place of work.
Driving long distances can mean employees will arrive feeling tired and will already need a break when they arrive before starting their work. This then will impact their ability to get work done in the morning, arguably the most productive period of the day for most, thus making them less productive for the whole day.

is it a good idea to seek alternative means of transporting employees to work daily

traffic won't reduce productivity in any organization... it's not wise to waste energy in trying to avoid the inevitable when clearly it's for the moment the situation you're in...been in a traffic might actually provide you with time to go through your day activities and how best to out do your previous best record or performance

Yes traffic can cause less of productive. And can reduce how effective and efficient a person can be.

Sometimes, time spent in traffic by employees reduces productivity in various indirect ways. But the best the business organization can do about that is just to built bungalows for their employees near the work place and with that the problem with traffic will be eliminated.

Time spent in traffic really does reduces productivity. It causes tiredness, which makes one not to have the zeal to work, all your planned activities for the day might be truncated because there might not be energy or motivation any longer to work.

Time spent in traffic no matter how unintended it may be, it reduces productivity because it leaves the employees feeling tired and stressed.

It certainly does, a state like Lagos where people spend hours in traffic can be very tiring, on getting to your place of work you become too tired that you will feel like sleeping, all through your time at work you won't be yourself, which will definitely affect your productivity.
