does time spent in traffic reduce productivity?

of course it does, you shouldn't see the few minutes of delay of one worker, but you have to calculate the total, the easiest thing to do to avoid crowd and traffic issues is by using bikes, they are an idea solution here where i live

It is an old saying, but true as ever: “Time is money.” A company that can produce quality products in less time than its competitors is likely to be more profitable and productive. An urban area where employees travel less time to get to work is likely to be more productive than one where travel times are longer, all things being equal. Productivity is a principal aim of economic policy. Productivity means greater economic growth, greater job creation and less poverty.

Congestion Costs: This is why such serious attention is paid to the Texas Transportation Institute’s (TTI) Annual Mobility Report, which estimates the costs of traffic congestion, principally the value of lost time as well as excess fuel costs. The fundamental premise, long a principle of transportation planning and policy, holds that more time spent traveling costs money, to employers, employees and shippers.

Mobility & Productivity: Groundbreaking Research: Yet, until fairly recently, very little research was available to document the connection between travel times and the productivity of urban areas. The pioneering work has now been done by Remy Prud’homme and Chang-Woon Lee at the University of Paris. From reviewing French and Korean urban areas, they showed that productivity improves as the number of jobs that can be reached by employees in a particular period of time (such as 30 minutes) increases

Big time yeah. Man-hours are waisted in the traffic on a daily basis in our country because if traffic. Imagine sealing a deal or a contract that was supposed to be done at a particular time of the day and you're all held out in the traffic

Absolutely Yes the time spent during traffic is exhausting the time frame of you productivity because part of the hour for productivity has been spent while in traffic

The daily traffic in our main road is horrendous that a 1 hour travel becomes 2.5 hours. It is not only the time spent but the stress that one gets from the heavy traffic. A stressed person has a lowered productivity level. Unfortunately there is no solution I see to solve the traffic problem here. It is caused by congestion in the city, too many residents, too many workers.

Yes. Time spent in traffic can really cause a whole lot of unproductivity because the energy that should be spent on work daily activities will have been burnt out in the cause of steering the wheels up and down in the road traffic

As for m yes and nothing you can do without that because it's born to happen and you can't do away without traffic because traffic is normal and can't be avoid in our country but it's born to happen and can do it here online alone

this can actually reduce your productivity because it may not allowed you to go to your office or a place of work on time and it might actually make you to miss potential people that might have been willing to patronize you in any area of your own particular business.

Time spent on traffic can be frustrating at times,on getting to work you are already tired and the energy you put in work for that day will be less. Providing accommodation for employees in this case will improve productivity at work.

I agree with you. Staying in traffic does reduce productivity. That is why most workers in the urban cities take coffee every morning. Coffee contains caffeine and it help you stay alert and active throughout most of the day.

Yes, time spent in a traffic can affect productivity and might leads to reduction in nations economy. Take for example, Lagos in Nigeria is always populated and filled with a serious traffic jam almost every day denying people so many daily chances and it has become worrisome.

yes it can actually reduce your productivity depending on the type of work you are doing because there are some type of work that requires you to be at the work place as early as possible but if traffic on the road stop you you may be able to lose a lot of customers.

It is no hidden facts that time spent in traffic reduces productivity especially in a country like ours where you can spend two hours in traffic for no good reason. if our government can create a very good road network you will find out that productivity will increase

You are actually correct in pointing out that traffic can reduce or affect productivity. Maybe that is the reason some businesses or companies look for staffs or workers that lived nearby. This is just my opinion.

Yes, time spent in traffic can actually affect productivity and the entire business, because the time you need for delivery is been spent in the traffic, which means no delivery, no sales, no sales no money.

Employees that reside in the urban areas will have a lot to say about their ordeal on daily basis navigating to their place of work.
Driving long distances can mean employees will arrive feeling tired and will already need a break when they arrive before starting their work. This then will impact their ability to get work done in the morning, arguably the most productive period of the day for most, thus making them less productive for the whole day.

is it a good idea to seek alternative means of transporting employees to work daily?
Time spent in traffic is nothing but time wasted and there is no way it can be compensated for except you are gonna adjuct for it in the time of over time. That is why a company has to be located at a place not eubject to heavy traffic gridlock. The performance of such business will be hamoereed by words much traffic and it's very bad

Getting stuck in traffic really do affect productivity.. spending too much time in traffic before getting to the office affect employees mentally. You won't feel good about yourself, feeling letdown and tiring and probably becoming lazy after getting to the office.. I think employers should consider this about their worker and make provision that can alleviate the problem.

The time spent commuting
That is almost an hour of your working day gone without any productive outcome and is still mentally associated with working. ... Spending a long time on the road can cause resentment for your job, especially if you are working long hours and your lengthy commute exacerbates that

And that's almost an hour after your working day and is still mentally connected to work without any positive outcome. The more you work past your fixed hours, the worse the effect will be on your satisfaction.
You can spend a long time on the road, particularly when you work long hours and your long route amplifies this.

Whereas traffic congestion disrupts business activities and reduces productivity level, research has shown that it may also be a symbol of growth in an economy. As the economy grows and real income of household increases, vehicle population surges up, contributing to traffic congestion, particularly within cities.
