Do you let members delete their own accounts?

Have given them permission to delete their own accounts from my website. I feel each individual has the right to manage their own account. If they feel it is unnecessary, then they can delete their account. It's good to let go of persons who aren't interested in your forum anymore. They would just use resources without contributing anything useful to the community.

I think members must inform you before deleting their accounts with a valid reason. Why do they want to leave? Maybe because of their inability to continue further for any personal/professional reason. But it's good to have an idea about when someone wants to leave.

I think that having a system in place where you have to request the admin to delete your account is probably a good way to go, and of course if they don't have a reason for leaving the admin can still process the deletion however this will also give the admin a chance in order to try and see the reason for them leaving and if there is something that they could implement in order to resolve one of the problems, and i think that this is very important for continuous development.

It depends a lot on the type of business model in which I am running. Generally, I will allow every business to allow members to delete the account completely if at all it does not hold any relevant information.

well, members should have the right to leave and delete their accounts once they want, they didn't sign any contract to deny them from that but it will be better to add a feature for the reason from that so maybe you can understand why most of the members delete their accounts.

Do you let members delete their own accounts through the profile settings page, or have you got a process in place for data removal? I've got a process in place and that's by using the Contact Us Form or sending me a private message if a user wishes to have their profile removed. What about you, how do you handle it?
I don't even think it's polite storing member details/profile but maybe for some it should be stored but there's always a process in place in case any a user want to have his/her profile removed

that feature should be greatly considered by anyone building a social media platform, giving users the opportunity to delete there accounts after they feel like to leave the space as this would help curb inactivity as well.

Freedom is key in management. I think that allowing the people or audience or members who joined the something that you created should also be allowed to leave at their own wish.

If it is the case of running a job on any platform like what did the admin of Casino Forum IO where running compaign to pay people to signup and do introduction on TimeWall account should not be removed anyway and such feature should be disabled so not after getting paid you remove your account this is unfair.

I think that there are certain kinds of websites that do allow their members to delete their accounts. It all depends on the website's policies, rules, and terms of service.

If a member deletes its account it is against website objective to have the biggest community, member could instead turn out notifications, unsubscribe from newsletter, do not receive email when receiving new message or something like that, but remove signup is against website objective and goals.

Actually everyone has a righ and on different forums are always consider but it can only be appropriate that a system should be made where members will request and seek permission for the delete of his account. at least that will be more coordinated and mature.

Delete account instant is not the good option.
At least there is 10 days or 7 days before delete account is effective.
This is to let person think twice and decide before confirm action or revert decision.
After that everything is not reverted.

I believe members should give you notice before canceling their accounts if there is a good cause.
They want to leave, but why?
Perhaps as a result of their inability to proceed for any personal or professional reason.
However, it's helpful to know when someone wants to depart.

Well, I can let people delete their own account. If they decide to delete their account, I think they should be allow to that. They join out of their own volition. So if they want to leave by deleted their account, they should be allow

I think that in the end it all depends on the administration of the site. If they offer the member the option to delete their own accounts, then I think that it is up to them in the end.

I don't allow users to delete their own accounts and so far I never come across anyone who wants to do that. If anyone wants to do that, probably they can always reach out to the staff and the admins can take care of it.

Losing data and a loyal user is always unpleasant but I will respect their wishes to disappear from the website for good. So far, I never really thought about such a situation more like, it never crossed my mind.

Most of my forum users leave for a bit but they always come back(sometimes it takes a year or so) most of the time. I hope even in some far away future, no would request this in my forum.

I think that you have made a good point. Allowing members to delete the account themselves would allow them to desert the forum when the conditions might not be good.
