Personally, I have actually resigned as a staff in one of my workplace. I have worked in a company for about 7 years ago and it wasn't a good experience for me at all.

That's another fair point there. When a staff member has gotten it secured a more better offer in terms of pay cheque, he might most likely resign his present job to go take the new offer.Concerning if staff do really resign. The main reason of such resignation is due to the management of the administration. No body likes to be resigned.
