I wanted to ask this, because I noticed that there are still a lot of sites out there on the web, from the 90s to early 2000s that are still around. One that comes to mind is the Space Jam movie website. It's been up since 1996 I think and it's the same as it has been since day one.

How is it still up? Does Warner Bros still pay to keep the site up? Or is it just that some sites will stay on the web forever?

If the site can earn enough to pay for servers and domain renewals, I think these sites can stay online forever. Sometimes even when the site is able to earn the running cost, it might not stay online because the owner does not have interest in running the site.

Often time when these sites keep staying up, they're profiting from something (say sales or ad revenue) or alternatively, they want to relaunch or repackage their old stuff to ensure it's fit for this new era.
The second option is my most likely guess.

I think wanner Bros is business minded, and every business owner would want to make profit. If wanner Bros decides to keep old sites it's because these sites are still useful.

If the site is earning for the owner, it will stay round forever. Why would someone shut down a website that is making money from him or her.

Many people uses such sites that stays around for a long to scam people, that's why I don't join old earning site's. I know it sounds some how but this the best for me.

Are there still sites like that, whoa does anyone know anyone here, how it goes, if it's works and others things. If there are any that is known please share with us

I don't think we have such site currently. I've never seen a site that stays up to a thousands of years and still exists. Or have you ever seen such sites?

I have been wondering this same thing. Some old sites are still working, there are not even upgrading their content to the latest, I guess they may be making money somehow

I think those old site's don't make enough money. If to say they make enough they could have upgraded their sites and remodel it to a new format.

Although is not quite feasible to see most sites remaining or sticking around forever but if such site is geberating, producing or amounting lots of money to the investor, then why won't the site remain as long as possible?

So many old sites are still up and running very well, though the have been some upgrade and changes on the site to be compatible with the new web2.0

True. Maybe they simply lack investors to pump in money and help them upgrade. But the fact remains, some old sites are still there are they are some how funded to ensure that they are still up and running

That's it. I have never came across a old site that still pays it's members. But have you ever came across a old site that pays it's members?

The most important thing about a site is the domain registry and they normally have expiring date so not every website is going to remain forever unless they keep up renewing the subscription.

No site would stay on the net forever as if you do not renew them where they got registered, the domain name would expire for other interested persons to register them.

Yes, i believe alot of old sites still stick around. The only thing is that they wont function as to they uesd to do before but they would still be accessible.

That is true, some site's owners even use to sell it due to lack of interest not because they can't earn money to renew their servers, lost of interest or old age can make one loss his interest on anything.

I think that no matter the website that you will have to always pay in order to ensure that the domain remains active and this is very important for a website that you want to keep going. Perhaps it was set to auto renew the domain.,
