Is Posting Contest Good to Bring Activities

Do you think running a posting contest is good to bring activities on your forum, do you really get quality posting through contest. I mean most people are only concerned on making more posts to run up for the contest, so how can you ensure quality posting? Have you run a posting contest on your community?

Hosting a posting contest on your forum to bring activity and content does work but it can also lead to many problems too.

I have found that when running posting contests, as much as you do get the members, and the content, a lot of the time some of it can be spammy and it doesn't always drum up engagement which can be a huge problem for a forum.

If you think about user retention, posting contest is not a great idea because once you stop contest users will be gone. However, if you want to build up content, contest can be good. However, you need rules about number of words, content quality, etc. A lot of people will just try to inflate the post count without putting value in the content.
